Mr. McKibben has just returned from
a trip to middle Kentucky where they grow
the best, smartest and
mules. He bought
two loads, one load ship
ped and received. They
are the sleek breedy kind
we have always had the
reputation of handling.
No mule gives the uni
versal satisfaction that the
Kentucky mule does. This
is the kind we have built
a large business and envi
able reputation with.

THE GREAT WAR
Allies Put Balkan State

was “unconditional surrender.”
With Bulgaria out of the war the
allies have an open road to Austria
through the east. The opportunity to
put Turkey out of the war is also now
open to the allied nations. The Brit
ish have recently been winning great
victories over the Turks in Palestine
and the Holy Land.

WOMEN IN WAR WORK
Secretary McAdoo has designated
October 5 as Women in War Work
Day.
“Millions of women in the United
States are engaged in war work.i
Seven hundred thousand serve as,
active workers in the organization of
the National Woman’s Liberty com
mittees. Seventy thousand women are
employed on the railroads. Hun
dreds of thousands of women are la
boring in the munition factories.
Other hundreds of thousands serve in
clerical work directly related to the
war. As many more are engaged in
the Red Cross and other activities for
the amelioration of war conditions.
“The women of America are doing
their share in the wnning of the war,
both by actual work and by the tre
mendous force of their moral influ
ence. It is fitting that their service
should be memoralized, and Saturday,
October 5, has been designated for
observation in the Fourth Liberty
Loan campaign as Women in War
Work Day.”

Here's Real Foot Protection
If you want your child to have full and
complete protection for their feet —look
for a sole like this.
It is your safeguard in many ways—

—against unscientific construction,
—against inflated prices.
The Selz Waukenphast, Jr., is the result of
years of experimenting by the best talent
