MANY CONVICTIONS IN SUPERIOR COURT PLEAS OF GUILTY ENTERED BY NUMBER OF DEFENDANTS. CALANDAR PLACED IN GOOD CONDITION. A large number of criminal cases have been disposed of at the August adjourned term of superior court in session here this week, and when court adjourns for the term the cal endar will be in good condition. The adjourned term was called by Judge Ogden Peieons to hear criminal cases only. The grand jKry completed its work and adjourned Tuesday after noon. About fifty indictments were returned, it was stated. Up to Wednesday nirfit sentences had been passed in the following cases. There had been many con victions in which sentences had not been imposed. Those convicted of making, having or selling whiskey found rough sledding during the week. W. . Webster, indicted - for cheating and swindling in connec tion with several cars of pepper contracted for with Butts county farmers in the fall of 1922, was acquitted.
