An interesting political develop
ment of the week is the fact that
Mr. W. F. Huddleston, president of
the Butts County Board of Educa
tion and well known citizen, is being
widely urged to run for representa
tive from Butts county in the pri
mary of September 8. His friends
are said to be insistent that he make
the race. Mr. Huddleston is consid
ering the matter and will make iv
definite statement within a few days.
He is one of the prominent mem
of the county and has been connect-

COUNTY’S ADVANTAGES
At the weekly luncheon of the
Kiwanis club Tuesday night a com
mittee was appointed to work out the
details of a radio program over the
Atlanta Journal station. Members of
the committee are O. A. Pound,
chairman; W. E. Watkins, Willis
Powell, Henry Wiley, W. A. Dozier,
R. P. Sasnett, Pitts McKibben.
The resources and advantages of
the county wil be told the wold over
station WSB. The date of the pro
gram will be announced later.
Guests of the dub were W. T.
Street and H. A. Denton, of Dothan,
Ala., H. D. Moore, Lakeland, Fla.,
Ernest Newton, Lancaster, S. C., G.
A. Cohen, president of the Dallas,
Ga., Kiwanis club, Miss Polly Smith.
Dinner was served by the U. D. C.
committee, Mrs. L. P. Lester chair
man. J. W. O’Neal donated the at
tendance prize, awarded to John
Thurston.
Miss Polly Smith delighted the
guests with vocal numbers. Mr.
Cohen made a short talk in which he;
asked that Kiwanians unite in boost
ing Georgia and make it the great
est state in the South.
