Mrs. Lee, who was Miss Hazel
Bankston, before her recent marri
age spent her girlhood here and is
most pleasantly remembered by

TOWALIGA WOMAN'S CLUB
On Friday, July 9, the Towaliga
Woman’s club held their monthly
meeting at the school building. The
meeting was opened by singing
“America.” Mrs. P. J. Evans offered
the club prayer.
Mrs. Hunt Ridgeway, secretary of
the eiub, called the roll which was
answered with names of favorite
presidents of the United States. She
then read the minutes of last meet
ing.
The club then sang “The Star
Spangled Banner,” which was follow
ed by Miss Gladys Weaver reading a
piece on the American Flag.
Presidents’ of the United States
names in puzzles was the last part
of the program. Mrs. A. K. Kimbell,
winning first prize.
Refreshments were served by Mrs.
P. J. Evans and Mrs. George Ether
idge.
MRS. POWELL HOSTESS AT
BRIDGE PARTY FOR VISITORS
A lovely affair of the past week
was on Fridav afternoon when Mrs.
Willis B. Powell entertained two
tables of bridge at her beautiful
home, “Idlewilde,” at Indian Springs
in honor of Mrs. W. T. Street and
Mrs. H. A. Denton, of Dothan, Ala.,
the guests of Miss Mary Newton.
Pretty bright garden flowers were
effectively arranged throughout the
spacious house, which was thrown
open to the guests and the interest
ing games were enjoyed in the large
living room. The score cards were
unique and attractive, Miss Pauline
Mallet making top score and winning
first prize, a lovely box of stationery.
Mrs. W. T. Street came second, re
ceibing a set of attractive table
markers.
After the games the charming
hostess served tea with a delicious
sweet course at the small tables.
ROOK PARTY FOR
GARDEN CLUB
Mrs. Smith Settle was the gracious
hostess to the member of the Garden
club and a few invited guests Friday
afternoon at her lovely home on
College street.
Tables were arranged for rook,
on the lawn and the interesting
games were played for an hour or
more.
Upon their arrival the guests were
served delicious punch by Mrs.
David Settle.
A salad course with iced tea was
served.

to a private sanitarium in Atlanta
Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Wilson has
been sick for several weeks and his
friends are manifesting continual
interest in his condition.
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Street, of
Dothan, who have been visiting Mr.
and Mrs. W. A Newton, are guests
this week of Mr and Mrs. N. T.
Street in Conyers. They will return
here Saturday and Mrs. Street sviil
remain for a stay of two weeks.
Mr. Street will return to Dothan
Sunday.
