WALTER M'OONALO, OUSTED
MEMBER, HAS STATEMENT
In view of the fact that Governor
Talmadge has taken advantage of
the power left in him through the in
advertent amendment of an ancient
statute to remove the Public Service
Commissioners, 1 feel hat 1 owe it
to the thousands of people who have
twice voted for me to fill this posi
tion, a brief statement about the sit
uation. .. 1 $
** The testimony in this case, which
extended from the 26th day of June
thiough July 10th, sixteeft days, fail
ed to develop any valid reason why
I should have been removed as a
member of the Commission. There
was not a scintilla of evidence
against my conduct as a commission
er or in any way connecting me with
any action unbecoming a gentleman
or public official.
The only criticism of my official
conduct or actions made by the Gov
ernor was in £cneral terms to the
effect that I had “requested the is
suance of passes to individuals by
bus companies over which the Pub
lic Service Commission has control.”
Ae shown by the evidence, such re
quests were confined to two cases
How One Woman
Lost 20 Lbs. of Fat
LOST HER PROMINENT HIPS—
DOUBLE CHIN—SLUGGISHNESS
GAINED A SHAPELY FIGURE
If you are fat how would you like
to lose it and at the same time gain
in physical charm and acquire a
clean, clear skin and eyes that spar
kle with buoyant health.
Why not do what thousands of
women have done to get rid of
pounds of unwanted fat? Take one
half teaspoon of Kruschen Salts in
a glass of hot water every morning
before breakfast and keep it up for
30 days. You can help the action
of Kruschen by cutting down on
pastry and fatty meats and going
light on potatoes, butter and cream.
Then weigh yourself and see how
many pounds you have lost.
Kruschen Salts are a blend of 6
salts most helpful to body health.
Best of all, a bottle of Kruschen
Salts that will last you for 4 weeks
costs but a trifle. Ask any druggist
for a bottle and start to lose fat
today. It’s the safe way to reduce
but be sure you get Kruschen—your
health comes first.

and were to assist attorneys who
were already entitled to passes to
have this courtesy extended to sick
members of their families. The Com
mission is generally criticised by the
Governor for using railroad and bus
passes. These passes were only used
by members of the Commission in
discharging their official duties, 01
inspecting the utilities ovef which
they have jurisdiction and this same
practce is observed by a large ma
jority of the State Commissions in
this nation.
There is a great deal of extraneous
matter in the Governor’s formal or
der indicating beyond doubt that his
decision is based on rank prejudice
and insufficient excuses, absolutely
without reasons for his action.
I am forced to yield to his preju
diced decision, but in yielding and
surrendering my commission, I do
so under bitter protest because I am
forced to surrender a commission
which I know I have kept pure, in
violate and unsoiled.
Without quoting any scripture', al
though there is ample that might be
o.uoted, I wish to conclude by saying
that after all there is a higher tribu
nal and I shall enter my appeal to
that tribunal. I refer to the people
of Georgia who believe in fail-nest
and justice and I feel confident that
my many friends throughout the
State will in the primary -of next
summer right the wrong that has
been done me.

ETHYL GASOLINE REDUCED
Standard Oil dealers in Georgia
have today received instructions
from the company’s offices in Atlan
ta to reduce the differential in cost
between Crown Ethyl Gasoline and
regular gasolines from 3c to 2c a
gallon.
This price change becomes effec
tive on July 28th and the company
gives as the reason therefor, improv
ed manufacturing facilities, and de
sires to pass along to the motoring
public this saving in their highest
priced product.
Scientists say farming is 20,000
years old. And the idea of farm re
lief must, be at least 19,999 years
old.

CHILD HEALTH
AiND PROTECTION
Dr. G. Y. Moore, president ot the
Georgia State Council tor Child Health
and Protection, has issued a call for
a meeting of the executives of this
Council at the Capitol in Atlanta ou
September 23.
This association of many groups ol
people in our state who are interested
in the betterment of conditions for our
children held a meeting in Athens in
the spring, at which time a perma
nent Council was formed.
Every citizen of our state should
affiliate with this Council, as we are
sure that all are interested in the
betterment of our children.
Tho meeting above referred to is
ter tho purpose of outlining a program
and the appointment of committees to
arrange for a state-wide meeting of
the people in our state who wish
enlist with the Council in doing con
structive work tor Georgia children.
HARD TIMES AND HEALTH
in seasons of financial depression
there are dangers that some of us
overlook, or, perhap3 thinking of them,
undervalue the influence that strin
gency in financial affairs brings about.
During such times health must not
under any circumstances be neglected,
it should not be under any circum
stances, but, when money is scarce
and people unemployed, no one can af
ford to get sick or be under par.
Appropriations of public funds, city,
county and state, should be increased
during such periods, that more effect
ive means may be instituted. Sani
tation should be mpre closely watched
and more work done. ,
Food that is of the right sort and in
the proper quantity should be con
sumed. Stinting the family ration to
buy gasoline is poor economy. The
state should have funds, that general
supervision could be given to rural
communities by health oficers and vis
iting nurses.
Any good county can have such su
pervision by the expenditure of 5 cents
per annum per capita or less. There
is no investment that will pay larger
dividends or bring more happiness.
In times of stress especially manpower
needs to be preserved in its fullest
capacity.
Health first, and other things will be
added unto you.
Rabies Still Prevalent in Ga.
During the first seven months of
1530, more than I.COO people in Geor
gia have each taken not less than
twenty-one injections of anti-rabic
treatment, is the statement made by
our efficient and ever alert State
Board of Health. During this same
period, the brains of 334 animals’
heads have been examined at the
State Board of Health Laboratory and
found to be infected with rabies. With
five months yet to go, we have al
ready far exceeded the record for 1929,
dating which year 1,400 persons were
treated and only 259 animal heads
were found to be infected.
Already two children and one man
have died of rabies in 1330. All three
deaths were the result of neglect. In
addition thousands of valuable ani
mals have died.
Rabies is spread almost entirely by
dogs and yet who would be so silly
as to say that the dogs are responsible
fer the prevalence of rabies? The peo
ple of Georgia are entirely responsible
not only for themselves, but for the
animals. Furthermore, our children
are not responsible, and yet the great
majority of the victims are children
We wish to urge every parent and
well-wisher of Georgia to enlist in
the P. T. A. summer woundup. Get
Georgia's 152.006 children ready for
school. Vaccinate against smallpox,
typhoid and diphtheria. Do not delay
a single day. Being physically fit
means a great deal toward! being
mentally equipped.
Sanitate; vaccinate.
STEEL ALONE
IS NOT ENOUGH!
neither strong enough,
nor safe enough,
nor quiet enough
for the body of a quality
car like CHEVROLET
' There is only one type of body
construction which Chevrolet
will permit on the chassis of the cars it builds:
That’s the type which every test—and every experi
ment — and every experience has proved to be
the safest, strongest, and best. Not steel alone,
because steel alone is not enough. But a Fisher
body of steel reinforced by hardwood! The very
same kind of construction used on practically all
the highest-priced cars in America.
If you’re thinking of buying anew low-priced car,
better watch this matter of bodies, and watch it
carefully. Insist on steel reinforced by hardwood!
Fortunately, the only low-priced car with this pre
ferred type of body is also the only car with a proven
valve-in-head six; with Fisher Ventilation; Cushion-
Balanced Power; a Starterator. That car is Chev
rolet—America’s most economical automobile.
