Be it ordained by the mayor ana
aldermen of the city of Jackson,
Ga. r that the following ad valorom
taxes be levied and collected on the
property of the city of Jackson, Ga.,
both real and personal, for the
year 1933.
For support and maintenance of
the public schools, 7 mills.
For support of the city govern
ment, 4 mills.
For the interest and sinking fund,
5 mills.
Making in the aggregate sixteen
mills or one dollar and sixty cents
on the one hundred dollars of prop
erty.

The petition of The Farmers
Eank, of Jenkinsburg, Butts County ;
Ga., shows as follows:
1. That The Farmers Bank, of
Jenkinsburg, Butts County, Ga., is
a banking corporation, created and
existing under the laws of this state,
with* date of incorporation January
3, 1910, with a capital stock of Thir
ty Thousand ($30,000.00) Dollars.
2. That the charter of said bank
was amended June 24, 1921, redu
cing its capital stock from Thirty
Thousand ($30,000.00) Dollars to
Fifteen Thousand ($15,000.00) Dol
lars.
3. Petitioners now desire to fur
ther amend the charter of said bank
by changing the location of said
bank from Jenkinsburg, Butts Coun
ty, Ga., to Locust Grove, Henry
County, Ga.
WHEREFORE, petitioner here
with pays the fee of Twenty-five
($25.00) Dollars, as provided by
law, and prays that the location of
said bank be changed from Jenkins
burg, Butts County, Ga., to Locust
Grove, Henry County, Ga.

Hamilton Quits
Board To Take
Post Office Job

Thomas J. Hamilton, editor of the
Augusta Chronicle and chairman of
the Georgia Public Works Advisory
Commission, will resign from the
commission, effective November 1,
to accept the appointment as post
master at Augusta. He is scheduled
to take over the Augusta postmaster
ship November 16.
Mr. Hamilton’s appointment to the
Augusta postmastership has been as
sured by the action of Congressman
Taul Brown, who announced that he
had recommended the Augusta editor
for the job and had not submitted
any other names to the President.
Since hi3 appointment as chairman
of the important public works com
mission, at the time of its organiza
tion, Mr. Hamilton has attended ev
e.ry meeting.
No announcement has been made
regarding the appointment of a suc
cessor to Mr. Hamilton on the Public
Works Commission, but it is expect
ed as he was an appointee of Senator
Richard B. Russell, Jr., the junior
senator will name his successor.

Mr. and Mrs. Tommis Lee Cook
and children, of near Jenkinsburg,
spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Cook and family.
Miss Elsie McKinley, of Forsyth,
was the attractive week-end guest
of Miss Elsma Morgan.
Mrs. Lloyd White, Mrs. Bryant
Williamson and Mrs. Van Jones at
tended the East Central Divisional
Institute of the W. M. U. which was
held at Warrenton, Ga. on October
17.
Friends of Mr. Tommis Leverettc
regret to learn of the illness of his
father, Mr. Lee Leverette, at his
home near Jenkinsburg.
Miss Helen Bond and Mr. George
Black were guests of Miss Marion
Bartlett Sunday P. M.
The G. A.’s held their regular
monthly meeting at the home of
Mrs. W. L. White on 3rd Saturday
P. M. An interesting program on
South America was rendered by
members of the auxiliary. A social
hour followed during which delicious
sandwiches with an iced shrub was
served. Mrs. W. A. White assisted
in entertaining the girls.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Kembell and
Miss Martelle Kimbell, of Jackson,
attended Sunday school at Macedo
nia on last Sunday afternoon.
Mr. G. P. Saunders, Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Saunders entertained members
of the immediate family with a din
ner on 3rd Sunday, it being the oc
casion of Mrs. Elwood Robison’s
birthday’. Those present were Mr. and
Mrs. Robison and little son, Mr. and
Mrs. Van Jones and children.
Mrs. J. C. Redman is still confined
to her home on account of illness.
The Sunbeam Band met on last
Saturday, afternoon at the church
for their regular monthly meeting.
The children rendered an interest
ing program after which they enjoy
ed toasting marshmallows. Mrs. Me
Michael, their leader, was assisted
by Misses Fleetie Cook and Willie
Ruth Singley.
The Royal Ambassador Band met
at the school house for their month
ly program on October 14 at 2:30
o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Thaxton
leaders, had planned a very inter
esting missionary program which was
rendered by members of the R. A.
Mrs. H. C. Caw’thon assisted in en
tertaining the boys and after the
program was concluded, served them
with a delightful salad course fol
lowed by’ cake.
The members of the B. Y. P. U.
presented an interesting playlet on
last Sunday evening entitled “The
Three Visitors.” A splendid crowd
was present in spite of the rain.
A missionary program will be pre
sented next Sunday night, beginning
ar 7 o’clock, with Miss Elsma Mor
gan as leader. We invite you to at

10 major tropical cyclones. It is not
at all improbable, however, that in
the next few weeks even this record
may be broken by the arrival of at
least one more storm on the Ameri
can coast.
At the present time Mr. Mitchell
believes it is probable that 1933 al
ready is the record year for genuine
hurricanes. The 1887 record simply
lists “tropical storms,” and not all
such storms developed top winds of
hurricane velocities.
