Music in charge of Mrs. Hugh
Mallet was a delightful feature of
the program and all enjoyed the
solo, “Rose in the Bud,” by Mrs.
Mallet, accompanied by Mrs. Harri
son.
The silver basket was awarded
Mrs. HaiTison for her splendid tulip,
city of Harlam.
Mrs. Frank Littleton and Mrs.
0. B. Howell former members, were
most welcomed visitors.
The club will sponsor “Snow Ball
and Sunshine,” at the auditorium
April 24.
Mrs. Harrison' served a most deli
cious salad course, assisted by Mrs.
Bert Carmichael.
WOMAN’S CLUB TO MEET
FRIDAY, APRIL 20.
Mrs. "C. W. Buchanan, Mrs. A. T.
Buttrill, Mrs. T. H. Nolen, Mrs. W.
E. Watkins and Mrs. J. T. Warthen
will be hostesses to the members of
the Woman’s Club at the regular
monthly meeting on Friday afternoon
April 20 at three o’clock. The meet
ing will be held at the usual place,
the clubhouse and Mrs. E. J. Wil
liams has charge of the program
which promises to be an interesting
one.
‘ MECHANICAL CITY” TO BE
SPONSORED BY U. D. C.
The mechanical wonder city will
be in Jackson Thursday, Friday
and Saturday of this week sponsored
by the U. D. C. Chapter. This won
der city was made by one man and
the work consumed eight years. It
has everything pertaining to a big
city reproduced in miniature form.
The exhibition will be on the lot
next to the City Service Station.
Admission will be five and ten cents.

the week-end the guests of Jackson
friends.

children, of Decatur, were guests

Rev. G. L. Riddle, who preached
at the Presbyterian church Sunday,
was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. B. K.

Mrs. Frank Littleton came up fom
Gainesville, Fla., Sunday to visit her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Howell
for a few weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Plumblee,
of Atlanta, are expected to spend
the week-end with their parents, Mr.
and Mi-s. J. T. Moore.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Shrophire were
down from Atlanta to spend the
week-end with their mother, Mrs. J.
H. Carmichael.
Mr. J. Watts Maddox has return
ed to Corbin, Ky., after a short visit
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. S.
Maddox.
Mr. and Mrs. Ehvood Robison and
Sonny Robison left Monday after
noon for Fort Pierce, Fla. They
will return the latter part of the
week.
Mrs. Lauren Shelley, of Atlanta,
was the guest Sunday of Miss Fran
ces McKibben. She was formerly
Miss Lucille Brown, of Indian
Spring's.
Mr. Arthur B. Stallworth, Jr., has
returned to Vicksburg, Miss., after
spending his vacation with relatives
and friends at Jenkinsburg and At
lanta.
Miss Frances McKibben will leave
Friday for a visit to hen aunt, Mrs.
J. D. Lloyd in Tallapoosa. Mr. and
Mrs. McKibben will spend Sunday
the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyi,
Miss McKibben returning home wrth
them.
Mr. Jack Harris was down from
Atlanta to join his family for visit
Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. Harris
who is asociated with the Busy Cor
ner Beauty Parlor, with the two
boys is at home with her aunt, Mrs.
W. A. Harris.

Mr. Hubbard Williams, of City
Point, Fla., was summoned here on
account of the death of his sister,
Mrs. Lula M. Duke. Mr. Williams
a cousin of the late Hon. C. A,
Towles, is related to many of the
older families of the county and
was cordially welcomed during his
visit here.
Mrs. John E. Lane and Mrs. C.
W. Buchanan leave Saturday for
Washington, D. C., to attend the na
tional congress of the Daughters
of the American Revolution which
convenes the week of the sixteenth.
They will be at the Willard Hotel.
En route home they will make stop
overs in Charlottesville, Altavista,
Richmond and Newport News.
Meade Hendrick Warthen, son of
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Warthen, and
James Andrews, son of Mr. and Mrs.
W. M. Andrews, both on the Pacific
fleet, United States Marines, left
San Pedro, Cal., Monday, April ninth
for New York, arriving in that port
the latter part of May. Meade Hen
drick is on the battleship Northhamp
ton and James on the Indianapolis.
These vessels will be docked at Nor
folk early in September when the
boys will probably visit their home
folks.
