tition for leave to sell the real es
tate of said Mrs. Joel B. Watkins, de
ceased, and that an order was made
thereon, at the August term, for
citation and that citation issue; all
the heirs at law and creditors of the
said Mrs. Joel B. Watkins, deceased,
will take notice that I will pass upon
said application at the September
term, 1934, of the Court of Ordi
nary of Butts County; and that un
less cause is shown to the contrary,
at said time, said leave will be grant
ed.

State of Georgia,
Butts Couiity.
To the Superior Court of said
County.
Carmichael Drug and Book Com
pany, a corporation, duly chartered
by the Superior Court of said County,
acting by and through its duly elect
ed and qualified officers respectfully
submits to the court as follows:
1. That on the 29th day of May,
1914, that it wus duly incoroprated
under the name and style of
“WOODS - CARMICHAEL DRUG
AND BOOK COMPANY.”
2. That on the 24th. day of No-
vcmber 1917, by an appropriate
Girder said charter was amended by
'changing the name thereof to “CAR
MICHAEL DRUG AND BOOK
COMPANY.”
3. That saitl charter as amended
expired May 29th, 1934, the full 2d
years having expired.
4. Now withn the time, allowed
by law, one year from the expiration
thereof, they petition the court to
revive said charter and amendment
and renew same for another per-
iod of 20 years.
5. Petitioner further asks that
said charter be amended further by
changing the name to “CARMICH
AEL DRUG COMPANY.’
Petitioner files herewith a certi
fied copy of an abstract from the
minutes of the stockholders meeting
held at the office of the CARMICH
AEL DRUG AND BOOK COMPANY
on the 17th day of July, 1904,
wherein a majority of the stockhold
ers, by an appropriate resolution,
requested that said charter be re
vived, renewed, and that an amend
ment be asked changing the name
of said corporation.
Wherefore, petitioner prays, that
said charter 'be revived for all pur
poses originally authorized, together
with all the privileges and immuni
ties heretofore enjoyed, or as now.
or may be hereafter allowed corpora
tions of a similar character under the
laws of Georgia, and renewed for a
period of 20 years and that the name
be changed to “CARMICHAEL
DRUG COMPANY."

ing the officers to petition the Su

May 29, 1934, and amend the same

“CARMICHAEL DRUG COMPANY”
was unamimously adopted.”

STATE AID PROJECT NO. 813
CUONTY OF BUTTS
Sealed proposals will be received
by the State Highway Board of Geor
gia at the General Office at No. 2
Capitol Square, Atlanta, Ga., until
10 A. M., Central Standard time,
August 16, 1934, for furnishing all
labor, material, equipment and other
things necessary for the construction
of 6.066 miles of paved hoad, located
in Butts County on what is locally
known as the Jackson-McDonough
Road. Beginning at Jackson and
ending at the Butts-Henry County
line, otherwise known as State
Aid Project No. 813 in Butts
County. The work will be let in one
contract.

Said work shall begin within ten
(10) days after formal execution of
contract and shall be completed with
in 80 working days. The State High
wa Department shall in no way be
bound or obligated’by any bid or
award until the execution of a form
al written contract by the State High
way Board, When such contract has
been executed, written notice shall
be given the Contractor, at which,
time, and not before, work may be
commenced.
Contract executed pursuant to
this Notice is binding on the Stat'
Highway Department, as such. Said
contract will not create liability, ex
press or implied, against the under
signed members of the State High-
way Board, as individuals, either sep
arately or collectively; nor against
any employee of the state Highway
Board or the State Highway Depart
ment, in his or her individual capa
city.
Plans and Specifications are on
file at the office of the undersigned
at Atlanta and at Macon, Ga., and at
the office of the Board of County
Commissioners of Butts County at
Jackson, Ga., where they may be in
spected free of charge. Copies of
the plans may be obtained upon pay
ment in advance of the sum of $4.50.
Copies of the General Specifications
may be obtained upon payment in
advance of the sum of SI.OO, which
sums will not be refunded except to
the successful bidder who will 'be
furnished a compete set of plans and
specifications free of charge.
Upon compliance with the require
ments of the Standard Specifications
Ninety (90) percent of the amount
of the work done in any calendar

month will be paid for between the
10th and 15th day of the succeeding
month, provided that payrolls hav3
been submitted as required, and the
remainder within thirty (30) days
after final completion and accept
ance. Proposals must be submitted
on regular forms which will 'be sup
plied by the undersigned, and must
be accompanied by a certified check,
Cashiers Check, or negotiable Uniter
States Bonds in the amount of
$5000.00, and must be plainly mark
ed “Proposal for Road Construction”
County and Number, and show the
time of opening as advertised. Check
of the low bidder will be cashied and
all other checks will be returned as
soon as the contract is awarded, un
less it is deemed advisable by the
State Highway Board to hold one or
more checks. If an unusual con
dition arises, the State Highway
Board reserves the right to cash all
checks. Bidders Bond will not be
acoepted.
Bond will be required of the suc
cessful bidder as required 'by law.
The Bond must be written by a licen
sed Georgia Agent in a Company li
censed to write Surety Bonds in the
State of Georgia, and be accompan
ied by a certificate from the Depart
ment of Industrial Relations that the
Contarctor is complying with the
Georgia Workmen’s Compensation;
Act.
Contracts will not be awarded to
contractors who have not been placed
on the list of qualified contractors
prior to the date of award. No pro
posals will be issued to any 'bidder
later than 4 P. M. Central Standard
time of the day prior to the date of
opening bids.
Every contractor applying for pro
posals must submit at the same time,
on a form which will be supplied by
the undersigned, a statement of his
contracts on hand.
All bids must show totals for each
item and total of amount of bid.
Right is reserved to delay the award
of the contract for a period of not to
exceed thii'ty (30) days from the
date of opening bids. Right is re
served to reject any and all 'bids and
to waive all formailties.

AGED NEGRO MAN KILLED
ON INDIAN SPRINGS ROAD
Zack Shannon, negro man about
75 years of age, was fatally injuerd
when he was run over by an auto
mobile near the dance hall at Indian
Springs Wednesday night. The driv
er of the car is not known. Shannon
was removed to Jackson after the
accident and died in a short time.

In the first cotton report of the
1924 season, released Wednesday,
the crop reporting board estimated
the condition of the cop on August
1 at 60.4 per cent of normal and
estimated the production for the
year at 9,195,000 bales. The 1933
crop was 13,047,000 bales.
The cotton \ market advanced
sharply on the report.
