MIMOSA GARDEN CLUB
MEETING POSTPONED.
The meeting of the Mimosa Gar
den Club which was to have been
held Thursday aftrnoon of this week
with Mrs. R .L. Hammond and Mrs.
Byrd O’Neal has been indefinitely
post poned.

MISS MARGARET HAM HOSTESS
AT MOVIE PARTY.
On Thursday evening Miss Mar-
garet Ham entertained fourteen boys
and girls at a movie party. Later
the guests assembled at the home of
her parents on South Mulberry street
, where refreshments were served and
various games enjoyed.
W. C. T. U. MEETING
POSTPONED TO JAN. 10.
The regular meeting of the W. T.
C. U. scheduled for Friday after
noon, Jan. 3, has been postponed
until Friday afternoon, Jan. 10 at
2:30 o’clock.
At that time, Mrs. J. B. Settle will
bo hostess and Mrs. R. P. Sasnett
will be program chairman.

On Friday night Miss Roslyn Red
man was hostess to a coteria of
charming girls who had supper with
her and later attended the movies.
On Saturday afternoon she enter
tained a group of boys and girls de-

the games, hot chocolate and fruit
cake was served.

TO BRIDGE CLUB.
c Mrs. Willis B. Powell was hostess
or New Year’s afternoon to the mem
ber's of her bridge club at her lovely
home, “Id’ewilde” at Indian Springs.
After the games a number of
friends were invited in for refresh
ments, and the afternoon proved
most enjoyable despite the inclement
weather which the guests braved to
reach the hostess’ home.

The January meeting of the Lar
kin D. Watson Chapter U. D. C. will
be entertained at the clubhouse on
Thursday afternoon, the 9th, at
three o’colck with Mrs. Albert Finley,

Boone, Mrs. Herbert Moore, Mrs.
Horace O’Neal and Mrs. R. L. Grant

Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Henderson of
Flovi’la, announce the marriage of
their daughter, Louise Isabelle, to
Robert Young, of La Fayette, the
ceremony lhaving been performed
December 22.
Mrs. Young received her education
at the Jackson High School and
Bessie Tift College.
Mr. Young attended the University
of Georgia.
After a short wedding trip Mr. and
Mrs. Young will make their home
with the groom’s parents.

AT NEW YEAR’S PARTY.
Miss Irma King entertained at a
delightful New Year’s party Tues
day evening inviting eighteen boys
and girls.
Until time to welcome baby 1936,
I the young people played bridge and
| rook and other' games. Mrs. Wright,
mother of the hostess, presented the
guests with appropriate whistles
which were used with much gusto at
the proper time.
A salad course, hot punch, and
candies were served by the hostess
being assisted by Mrs. Wright and
Mrs. Emma Rawlenson.

The business Women’s Group of
the Methodist Missionary Society en
tertained at a delightful Christmas
party Friday evening at the homo
of Miss Marguerite Fletcher in
compliment to Mrs. Kirk Biles, a
popular bride of December.
The home was attractive with
Christmas decorations, and the use
ful gifts brought by members of the
circle and friends were presented
Mrs. Biles by Miss Pauline Mallet.
Chocolate and wafers were served,
and assisting the hostess were Mrs.
J. T. Fletcher, Misses Lou and Eioise
[ Beauchamp.
MR. WHITE CELEBRATES
HIS 82ND BIRTHDAY.
Judge G. W. White, of Worthville,
one of Butts county’s most esteemed
and beloved citizens, celebrated his
82nd birthday anniversary on De
cember 26. The occassion was cele
brated in a quiet manner, with the
family circle being present.
Judge and Mrs. White have been
married 61 years, and are the re
cipients of cordial good wishes and
sincere regards from their hosts of
friends. Both are members of
pioneer families of the county
Judge White is a son of of the late
Mr. and Mrs. George White, of
Charleston, S. C. Mrs. White was
the former Miss Lucy Weaver, of
Butts county.
The good wishes of countless
friends are extended this beloved
couple as they begin the new year.

Announcment is made of the mar
riage of Mrs. Lucy Sutton Applebee
to Paul Wilson Nolen. The cere
mony was performed Sunday, Nov.
10, at the home of Judge Harry R
Hewitt.
Mrs. Nolen is a native of Wel’s
ville, N. Y., and came to this city
10 years ago.
Mr. Nolen came here 14 years ago
from Jackson, Ga., and has been en
gaged in business here since that
time.
Mr. and Mrs. Nolen will make
their home at 527 Fifty-fourth street
south, after April 1.

4 -9:2, Timothy 1:3-7.
Mrs. H. C. Harris had charge of
ihe study class, the subject being
“Teaching Christian Living,” whose
job is it? This subject, one we should
all be much concerned about, was
freely discussed and proved inspir
it g-
Mrs. H. C. Brooks was in charge
of the program using leaflet “Little
stories of our works.” These inter
esting stories were told by several
ladies which were very interesting.
Minutes of the last meeting were
read and adopted. Reports of com
mittees were given and other busi
ness discussed.
Mrs. J. A. Griffies was welcomed
us anew member. Prayer was of
fered in conclusion by Miss Ruth
Middlebrooks.
: During the social hour the hostess
served a delicious salad course with
hot coffee.

O’NEAL—HORTON.
Of interest to friends and relatives
throughout Georgia and South Caro
lina was the marriage Sunday, De-
cember 22nd, of Miss Mary Spivey
O’Neal, of Macon and Chipley, to
Clarence Dean Horton, of Chipley,
formerly of Spartanburg, S. C. The
marriage took place quietly at th-:
home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. Ar
thur Turner, in Statesboro, with Rev.
G. N. Rainey, pastor of the Method
ist church, performing the impressive
ceremony. The bride wore a chic
suit of black tree bark with taffeta
trimmings and accessories matching.
A shoulder corsage of gardenias com
pleted her costume.
' The bride is the youngest daughter
cl Mrs. James O’Neal, of Chipley
end Macon, and the late Mr. O’Neal.
She was a popular member of the
young college set of Statesboro where
she made her home for two years
while studying at S. G. T. C. She is
a graduate of the class of ’35. Mr.
Horton received his education i:i
Spartanburg, S. C., later studying at
a school of engineering in Philadel
phia, Penn.
Mr. and Mrs. Horton left immedia
tely after the ceremony for a wed
ding trip to South Carolina, after
which they will make their home in
Chipley, where he is project engineer
cf the Pine Mountain State Park. —
