JOEE. BROWN HEADLINER
RT PRINCESS NEXT WEEK
POPULAR STAR IN ‘BRIGHT
LIGHTS” FOR MONDAY AND
TUESDAY. OTHER FINE
SHOWS BOOKED.
The romantic comedy, “Bright
Lights,” starring Joe E. Brown wil 1
start off the week of Jan. 13-18, be
ing the offerng for Monday and Tues
day, Jan. 13-14
In addition to Joe’s laugh-provok
ing stunts, there are four lively
songs, for the picture is one of back
stage life and the singing comes in
naturally.
Joe E., himself, sings and dances
and does acrobatic stunts with the
famous Maxellos.
Scores of pretty chorus and danc
ing girls appear in the theatrical
sequences but “Bright Lights” is
neither a musial or a farce, but a
stirring romantic comedy.
The story is by Lois Leeson and
concerns Joe E.’s quick jump from
a burlqsque comedy troupe to a big
Pioadway actor, playng with a mad
cap heiress, Patricia Ellis, out for ad
venture. His wife and partner in
the burlesque show, Ann Dvorak, is
out of it and goes back to smal’
time.
Joe’s head swells which causes
many complicatons whch lead to a
unique and amazing climax.
The usual Fox Movietone News

SI,OOO A MINUTE”
Roger Pryor and Leila Hyams head
the cast in this appealing Republic
picture on for Wednesday and Thurs
day, Jan. 15-16. It is taken from the
Saturday Evening Post story by
Everett Freeman.
The story deals wit'h an impulsive
young newspaper reporter who is
thrown by fate into a strange series
of circumstances, resulting in his
disposing of a thousand dollars a
minute for twelve consecutive hours
With given rules and instructions
the young man launches forth on one
of the maddest, aizziest, most hu
n'orous adventures ever beset by a
motion picture character.
In the story, Pryor meets wih a
gigantic combination of funsters in
eluding such well known players as
Edgar Kennedy, Sterling Holloway.
Herman Bing, Franklin Patigborn,
Edward Brophy, Arthur Hoyt, Rus
sell Hicks, Claude King, Spencer
Charters and Wil’iam Austin.
Thereafter follows humorous ad
ventures galore, tied in with a gen
uine romance.
The Comedy is, “A Return En
gagement.”
"THE NEW FRONTIER”
John Wayne who stars in “The
New Frontier” which is on for Fri
day and Saturday, Jan. 17-18, is a
western hero who never disappoints.
This original story written by Rob
ert Emmett is an effective chron
icle of the hardships experienced by
many frontier people during the mad
land rush days. Wayne undergoes
many thrilling encounters as sheriff
of Frontier, anew flown. The pic
ture is climaxed by the burning of
a whole frontier village. Lovely
Muriel Evans p’ays opposite Wayne
end others include Murdock Mac-
Quarrie, Allan Cavan, Warner Rich
mond, Alfred Bridge, Sam Flint.
Also chapter 12 of “Roaring West”
which is, “The Mystery Shot.” A
good comedy will round out the pro
gram for these daces.

COMMUNITY CANNERY TO TAKE
CARE OF THOSE WHO STILL
JiAVE CANNING TO DO
So many inquiries have come •in
recently in regard to beef canning
we feel that the plant should re-open.
After all it belongs to our ciizenn
and we want it to run if they have
products yet that they want to save
No certain days will be set aside
tor canning but arrangements can
be made at the County Agent’s of
fice for the work. By doing this we
can can some two or three beeves
the same day at approximately the
same expense as it would take to
can one.
We appreciate the nice reports and
comp’iments from those who have
had canning done during the year.
The majority of these however,
should go to our Canning Supervisor,
(Otho Morgan) who has made a
splendid record with his canning.
Anything that we can do to help
you save your surplus products will
he a pleasure.
