WOMAN’S MEETING.
“This year I will delight myself
in the things of the spirit.”
Such was suggested New Year’s
resolution for the missionary society,
which met Monday afternoon in the
ladies parlor of the Methodist church.
It was interesting to note espei
ially those faithful —than whom none
so—who mushed Monday afternoon
through the fog and mist and slush
to “start the New Year right.”
The meeting accomplished several
newly imposed duties:
“Peoples’ Mandate t‘o End War”
was signed and sent on to swell the
world-wide demand for peace. The
aim is for fifty million such signa
tures, which are to be presented to
ALL Governments this spring at
Geneva.
GraJification was expressed that
Butts county through its sheriff had
lined up as an anti-lynching county.
Lynching is NOT a tradition of the
South.
It was shown that the society
through Mrs. J. B. Settle’s good
financing had clothed its young ward
for 1936 at a minimum expense. Th;
secret also came out that one of our

fore his burning at the stake.
