HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
TOLD HOW TO GET JOBS
MEMBERS OF SENIOR CLASS
HEAR OF VOCATIONAL GUID
ANCE AS AID TO SECURING
POSITIONS FOR STUDENTS.
Vocational Guidance and Place
ment, one of the main objectives of
Kiwanis, was explained to a group of
Jackson high school seniors Tuesday
night, when N. F. Land, chairman
of the committee, put on a program
built around the assistance given
high school and college graduates in
securing positions. The program,
similar to one used by the Atlanta
Kiwanis club and Kiwanis Interna
tional, was put on by Mr. Land and
Vincent Jones. The question and
answer method was used.
Mr. Jones interviewed Mr. Land
on best methods to be follpwed in
applying for a position. Mr .Land
showed the the method of approach
to employers, both large and small,
and cited such qualities as willing
ness, promptness, neatness and ac
curacy as being important in secur
ing an dholding jobs. The program
brought out several points of interest
and proved of interest to all mem
bers.
The Jackson club will send repre
sentatives to the Georgia district
meeting at Warm Springs May 14.
Dinner was served by the Woman’s
Club, Mrs. N. F. Land chairman.
Guests of the club were Foster
jjeverett, Woodward Lave nd e t
Compton Blankenship and Vincent
Jones, all from the Jackson high
school.

THE JACKSON PROGRESS-ARGUS. JACKSON, GEORGIA
NEXT WEEK’S BILL AT
THE PRINCESS THEATRE
For Monday and Tuesday, May
11-12 the offering at the Princess
will be, “A Tale of Two Cities,” a
sincere and beautiful transcription
of the Dickens’ novei with Ronald
Colman as Sidney Carton, the seedy,
unstable young barrister whi hope
lessly loved Lucie Mamtte Darney,
wife of an aristocratic French ex
patriate in England.
The film proves Carton's devotion
most effectively, and makes his sac
rifice for Lucie cerditable and dra
matic. The story skilfully contrasts
the peace ’and charm of rural Eng
land with the turbulence of erulety
of the French Reign of Terror, when
tire populace, revolting against the
oppression of the aristocrats, set
our on a bloody revenge.
Several excellent characterizations
are included in the film, Elizabeth
Allen is Lucie, Donald Woods is Dar
ney, Blanche Yurka is Madanre La
Farge, Basil Rathbone is one of the
cruelest of possible aristocrats, and
r.utn OLirers as Reginald Owen, H. B.
Warner, Henry.B. Walthall, and by no
means least, Edna Mae Oliver as
Miss Press.
Fox Movietone News precedes
these two shows.
“RENDEZVOUS”
For Wednesday and Thursday, May
13-14 the startling, dramatic story,
“Rendezvous,” starring William Pow
ell will be the attraction. The story
is laid in war-time Washington with
an admirable cast including Rosalind
Russell, Binne Barnes, Lionell At
well, Cesar Romero, Samuel Hinds.
The comedy for these dates is,
“Tale of Vienna Woods.”
“ROCKY RHODES”
“DARKEST AFRICA”
Friday and Saturday, May 15-16
brings Buck Jones in a great thriller,
“Rocky Rhodes’ and this will be sup
plemented by the seepnd installment
of “Darkest Africa” which is “The
Tiger Men’s God.”. There will also
be a good comedy for these dates.
