erty of the estate of H. M. Fletcher,
deceased.
All that certain tract or parcel
of land situate, lying and being in
the City of Jackson, Butts County,
Georgia, containing three (3) acres,
more or less, and bounded on the
north by lands of H. O. Ball, on the
east by Mays Street, on the south
by Negro Public School property
and \\ illiam Besley, and on the west
by lands of Joe Carmichael estate.

all that certain tract or parcel of
land situate, lying and being in the
612th District, G. M. of Butts Coun
ty, Georgia containing fifty-four
(54) acres, more or less, and bound
ed on the north, east, south and
west by lands of Mrs. Martha S.

The equity in one half undivided
interest in all that certain piece,
parcel or tract of land containing
one hundred eighteen and one half
acres, more or less, situate
lying and being on the Griffin road
about five miles west from the City
of Jackson, Georgia, in the 610th
District, G. M., County of Butts,
State of Georgia, having such shapes,
metes, courses and distances as will
more fully appear by reference to
a plat thereof made by J. M. Col
lins, County Surveyor, October 15,

Snapping Shoals
REA Is Awarded
Grant $59,000
WILL BUILD 65 MILES OF LINE
TO SERVE 215 CUSTOMERS IN
FIVE COUNTIES, ADMINISTRA

An allotment of $59,000 to build
65 miles of line to serve 215 mem
bers in DeKalb, Newton, Butts,
Rockdale and Henry counties has
been made to the Snapping Shoals
Electric Membership Corporation at
Covington, according to announce
ment of Henry Slattery, administra
tor of rural electrification.
The borrower previously had been
allotted $270,000 to build 251 miles
of line to serve 1,355 members, and
$7,000 to finance house wiring and
plumbing installations.
The Snapping Shoals REA unit
serves the Fincherville and Worth
ville areas of Butts county.
In announcing the Snapping Shoals
allotment Mr. Slattery said $9,133,-
500 was alloted in 28 states and
brings total allotments by REA since
1935 to $351,454,621.22.
Many of the birds and small ani
mals are distinctly helpful to farm
ers.

My grandma used to say she hat
ed to see Christmas come cause nig
gers and chillun didn’t have no
sense. I done live to find out she
was right. Aint no two sets got
less sense at Xmas time than them
two. And farther more they nearly
runs the rest of us distracted. I’m
alius sorry to see it come and glad
to see it go.
Some uf the nabors done got
they tardy hid out in the cotton
seeds in the barn. I see ’em trap
sing back and from the house as
I pauses to pass by. Seems like
they blieve in plentous refreshments.
Some folks think they cant selebrate
Xmas without gettin lit. Our folks
just let the Xmas tree be the only
thing at our house to be lit.

AT PRE-CHRISTMAS SALE.

Light receipts but fair prices
marked the livestock auction sale
Monday. A total of 17 head of cat
tle, 2 goats and 3 pigs sold for
$287.81.
Fair prices were paid. Heifers
sold up to $0.40, veal went at $7.05
and steers sold up to $5.05.
Evidently the majority of fat cat
tle had been run through the ring.
The first sale of 1941 will be held
Monday, January 6, beginning at
1:30 p. m. at the Watkins barn.

youngest child in the family, B. H.
Cole, of Atlanta. The 68 acres in
the homestead has been owned by
the Cole fnmily for 58 years.

BANG’S ERADICATION
Practical eradication of Bang’s
disease (infectious abortion) of cat
tle in six additional Georgia coun
ties has been announced by the De
partment of Agrculture. They are
Carroll, Catoosa, Fayette, Lumpkin,
McDuffie, and Rockdule. Theso
counties have been officially desig
nated as modified accredited Bang’s
disease-free areas by Dr. J. R. Moh
ler, chief of the Bureau of Animal
Industry. The total number of
counties now in the modified accre
dited status is 346, located in 20
states.
