IT CAME UPON A MIDNIGHT
CLEAR
It came upon a midnight clear,
That glorious song of old,
From Angels, bending near the
earth,
To touch their harps of gold,
“Peace on the earth, good will to
men.”
From heaven’s all gracious King,
The world in solemn stillness lay
To hear the angels sing.
Still through the cloven skies they
come,
With peaceful wings unfurled,
And still their heavenly music
floats,
i O’er all the weary world;
Above its sad and lowly plains
They bend on hovering wing,
And ever o’er its Babel sounds
The blessed angels sing.
Yet with the woes of sin and strife
The world hath suffered long,
Beneath the angel-strain have
rolled
Two thousand years of wrong.
And man at war with man, hears
not
The love songs whicch they bring,
Oh, hush, the noise ye men of strife
And hear the angels sing.
And ye, beneath life’s crushing load,
Whose forms are bending low,
Who toil along the climbing way,
With painful steps and slow.
Look now! For glad and golden

hours
Come swiftly on the wing;
O rest beside the weary road,
And hear the angels sing.
For lo the days are hastening on
By prophet-bards foretold,
When with the evercircling years
Come round the age of gold.
When peace shall over all the earth
Its ancient splendors fling,
And the whole world sends back
the song,
Which now, the angels sing.
THERE IS A SONG
There’s a song in the air!
There is a star in the sky!
There’s a mother’s deep prayer,
And a baby’s low cry!
And the star rains its fire while
the beautiful sing,
For the manger of Bethlehem
cradles a King.
There’s a tumult of joy
O’er the wonderful birth,
For the Virgin’s Sweet Boy
Is the Lord of the earth,
Ay! The star rains its fire while
the beautiful sing
For the manger of Bethlehem
cradles a King!
In the light of that star,
Lie the ages impearled;
And that song from afar
Has swept over the world.
Every hearth is aflame, and
the beautiful sing,
In the homes of the nations that

Jessus is King!
We rejoice in the light
And we echo the song
That comes down thru the night
From the heavenly throng
Ay, We shout to the lovely evanel
they bring,
And we greet in His cradle our
Savior and King.

HARK! THE HERALD
Hark! the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the Newborn King;”
Peace on earth, and mercy mild;
God and sinners reconciled;
Joyful, all you nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies,
With angelis hosts proclaim;
“Christ is born in Bethlehem.”
Hark, the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the Newborn King.”
Christ, by highest heaven adored,
Christ, the everlasting Lord!
Late in time behold Him come,
Offspring of a Virgin’s womb,
Veiled in flesh and Godhead see,
Hail the incarnate Diety!
Pleased as man with men appear,
Jesus our Immanuel here.
Hark, the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the Newborn King. ”
Come, Desire of Nations, come!
Fix in us that humble home!
Rise the woman’s conquering seed
Bruise in us the serpent’s head,
Adams’ likeness now efface,

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2 6,
Stamp Thine image in its place;
Second Adam from above
Reinstate us in Thy love.
Hark, the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the Newborn King.”
SILENT NIGHT
Silent night! Holy Night!
All is calm, all is bright!
Round yon Virgin Mother and
Child!
Holy Infant, so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace!
Silent Night! Holy Night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Allelulah,
Christ the Savior is born!
Christ the Savior is born!
Silent Night! Holy Night!
Son of God, loves pure light,
Radiant beams from Thy Holy Face
With the dawn of redeeming
grace.
