CHRISTMAS EVE
Tonight is Christmas Eve,
And I would like to be
4 very little girl once more,
4 n( ] have a Christmas tree.
Tonight I want a child’s sweet face
In days to come ... I want my heart
Filled with tranquility;
I want to set this night apart
For revery. Tonight is Christmas eve,
And I would like to be
A very little gii’l once more
And have a Christmas tree.
—Anita Butts.
FILL A CHRISTMAS STOCKING
Have you ever filled a Christmas
stocking, boys and girls?
Those of you who have not have
missed a great deal and you should
start today and gather together a
heap of goodies for some little poor
child who is more unfortunate than
yourself, so that he or she might
have a delightful surprise at Christ
mas time when all the world is hap
py and bright.
There is a band called the Red
Stocking committee in some large
places which shows about this time
every year a happy group of thought
ful unselfish women who meet and
work to this end.
With little expense and sacrifice
of a little time wonderful results can
be accomplished.
There are thousands of appeals at
this time which have to be met,
worthy cases and a great deal of
hustling must be done for a while,
so that every one will receive some
thing.

LITTLE TOWN
Oh, Little Town of Bethlehem,
How still we see the lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark street shineth
The Everlasting Light,
The hopes and fears of all the years.
Are met in thee tonight
For Christ is born of Mary,
And gathered all above,
While mortals sleep the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love.
Oh morning stars, together,
Proclaim the Holy Birth.
And praises sing to God the King
And pence to men on earth.
r • !
How silently, how silently!
The wondrous gift is given!
For God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His heaven.
No ear may hear His coming
But in this world of sin.
Where meek souls will receive Him
still,
The dear Christ enters in.
Oh Holy Child, of Bethlehem!
Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in,
Be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us,
Our Lord Immanuel!
