CARD OF THANKS
Due to the recent decline in my
health I feel forced to resign my office
as judge of the Superior Courts of the
Flint Circuit. In doing this it causes me
great regret, as I had hoped to be able
to finish out my term of office. But in
justice to the Court and to myself I feel
it my duty to resign. Let me here thank
the voters of my circuit for their loyal
support during my term of office,
which has been almost a quarter of a
century, the bar, the jurors and the
court officials for their many courtesies
shown me.

Negro Slab As
He Draws Gun
On White Boys
Andrew Wynn alias Bus Maddox,
Negro man about 50 years old, was
killed near the Prentice Ridgeway
home in Towaliga district about 2
o’clock Wednesday afternoon, and
Harold Webb, white youth who fired
the fatal shot, is said to have acted
just in time to prevent Wynn from
shooting David and Franklin Ridge
way.
Wynn, according to Sheriff J. D.
Pope and others, had been creating
a disturbance in that section all day
and had threatened the Ridgeway,
Pelt and Letson families. The Negro
was described as being drunk and
had beaten and threatened his wife
and had mistreated the team of mules
hitched to a two horse wagon. Wynn
had become so boisterous that Sher
iff Pope had been sent for to quell
the disturbance when the fatal shoot
ing occurred.
The Ridgeway boys and Webb
were arranging a fishing trip when
Wynn appeared at the Ridgeway
home and when admonished to quiet
down and leave the premises, produc
ed a shot gun and was in the act of
firing when Webb secured his gun
from a truck and shot Wynn. Two
shot were necessary to produce
death.
Arriving soon after the shooting,
Sheriff Pope arrested Wynn’s wife
and placed her in the county jail on
a disorderly charge.
Wynn is said to have lived on the
Smith farm in the Fairfield church
community .
