Rites Monday At
Jenkinsburg For
Miss E, L. Childs
Burial service for Miss Emma Lou
former Butts county resident
and former teacher in the Jackson
schools, who died at her home in
Atlanta Saturday, was in the Jenkins-
Lurg cemetery Monday. Funeral ser
vices were held at 10 o’clock at
Spring Hill with Rev. Gordon Brooks
officiating.
The pallbearers were P. H. Weav
er, Taft Sutton, Lewis Lane, A1
Deßose, Allen Harris, Lymie Mauld
in.
Miss Childs’ death followed a long
period of ill health but the last illness
was of short duration.
Born and reared in Butts county,
daughter of the late Mr. John B.
Childs, president of the Butts coun
ty Board of Education and in whose
honor the Jenkinsburg Consolidated
School was named, and Mrs. Ollie
Asbury Childs, she was educated in
the schools of the county and the
State Teachers College in Athens.
Following graduation she taught suc
cessfully for several years. AfWr the
family moved to Atlanta Miss Childs
became affiliated with the Home
Owners Loan Corporation and con
tinued that connection until her sud
den passing Saturday.
In addition to her mother,. Miss
Childs is survived by two sisters, Mrs.
Victor Wilson, Atlanta, and Mrs. T.
A. Markson, Washington City; three
brothers, James G. Childs, Brookha
ven; M. W. Childs, Duluth, and John
A. Childs, Atlanta; several nieces
and nephews,

dear editer,
I bin mouty busy the past few
weeks tryin to do everything round
the house. The Ole Man bin sick
fer a good while and we had ter take
him to the Horsepittal on er Ters
day. I stood ever thing all right both
the work and the susspinse till they
taken me to the Horsepittal to aee
him. And reckin what I seen. He wuz
settin up in bed eatin cod fish cakes
and mushrume sauce and flirtin wid
them nusses. I taken myself out uf
that room as quick as I could but
not before I shuck my finger in
them gals faces and told em they had
cr better let my Ole Man erlone and
behave theyselves. They promised
they would so I left in better spirits
than when I went. Aint heered from
him since I come back and dont
know how things is gettin erlong
now. Hope he is better and the sur
roundings is too.
Will keep you advised bout all my
troubles.

Mr. J. F. Perkinson of Metter vis
ited his wife here over the weekend.
Mrs. Bessie Bryan, who has been
away sick for several months, is
spending this week with Misses Del
ia and Georgia Watkins at their
summer home here.
Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Hogan of
Dublin spent the weekend with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. T. McMich
al.
Friends will be glad to learn that
Mrs. J. W. Lee is resting comforta
bly after her last operation. She
plans to be home in two weeks.
Mrs. V. W. Cole is resting more

Mrs. Alice Law entertained a num
ber of friends at a weiner roast at
the state park Friday night.
Richard Watkins is visiting his
aunts, Misses Georgia and Delia
Watkins.
Bob Franklin spent the weekend

Forsyth. Bob hopes to get off part

an out-door drama, “The Enchanted
Forest." The livea of several people
are emeshed in the Enchanted Forest
including a baby who is brought up
as a child of nature by animals and

enport are in the cast.

their children but Vera-Ellen objects
to Caesar and falls in love with Dick
Haymes, an American. Caesar, in the
