THURSTON FAMILY REUNION
HELD AT INDIAN SPRINGS
The Thurston family reunion was
held Sunday, August 3, at Indian
Springs when about two hundred of
the family connections were present.
Weather conditions permitted the
group to enjoy a sumptious dinner
on the picnic grounds at the noon
hour. Among some of the older mem
bers present were Mr. Jim Thurston,
of Washington, D. C., Mr. R. L. Mc-
Michael of Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Caston of Jenkinsburg.
For the past fifteen years the
Thurston family has been holding an
annual reunion on this date.
PERSONAL
Mrs. John W. Johnson of Chatta
nooga is visiting her mother, Mrs.
J. W. Moore.
Mrs. J. W. Lee has returned to her
home at Indian Springs after recent
treatment in an Atlanta hospital.
Mr. Floyd Oglesby of Helena and
Atlanta spent the weekend with his
uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd
Daley.
Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Thomas had as
.guests over the weekend Mr. and
Mrs. M. B. Thomas and children,
Geraldine, Robert and Jerry of Jack
sonville, Fla., Mrs. L. V. Ludwig and
sons, Leroy and Bobby, of Miami,
Fla., Mrs. Paul Puckett, of Atlanta,
and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas, of
Springfield, Ohio.
Mrs. R. C. Thomas and Mrs. Paul
Puckett left today for a visit with
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas in
Springfield, Ohio. They will return
Tuesday by plane, this being the first
plane trip for Mrs. Thomas.
Mrs. Ed Carmichael and Irma
Jane, Mrs. Bert Carmichael and Bert
111 are spending the week at Jackson
ville Beach.

Mrs. G. D. Head will entertain the
children of the cradle roll depart
ments of the churches Friday after
noon on the lawn of the Methodist
church in compliment to her little
granddaughters, Donna and Brenda
Head, of Arlington, Va. Their father,
Mr. G. D. Head Jr., will take moving
pictures of the children in their
games.

daughter, Sandra, of Miami, are the
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lav
ender. Friends of Mrs. Lavender are
glad to know that she is improving
after a recent illness.
Miss Viola Slaughter was a visitor
to Atlanta Friday .
Friends of Mr. Ray Cook are in
terested to know that he is conva
lescing from a recent emergency
operation for appendicitis at an At
lanta hospital.
Mrs. Bill Mitchell, Barbara and
Bill, of Barnesville, were guests
Tuesday of Mrs. Vincent Jones.
Mr. and Mrs. John Roy Patrick
returned to Chickamauga Sunday af
ter a visit with their mother, Mrs.
Lucile Patrick, and other relatives.
Mrs. T. H. Nolen and Miss Clara
Nolen left Monday for a two weeks
stay at Clayton, Ga.
Mrs. L. B. George of Atlanta is
the guest of Mrs. Ada Sams Miller.
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Burford an
nounce the birth of a daughter,
Sarah Jo, Friday at the Georgia Bap
tist hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. E. W. O’Neal Jr. and
children of Atlanta spent the week
end with relatives.
Friends of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Ire
land sympathize with them in the
death of Mr. Ireland’s brother, Mr.
George A. Ireland, at his home in
Atlanta Thursday. Funeral services
were held Friday afternoon at Spring
Hill with Dr. Warren Cutts officiat
ing. Interment was at West View
cemetery.
Friends of Mr. G. D.' Moss of Bron
wood are sorry to know that he is
seriously ill at Emory University
Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Capps of Port
land, Oregon, were the guests the
first of the week of Mr. Lovett
Fletcher and Mr. and Mrs. Van
Fletcher. Messrs. Capps and Fletcher
were “war buddies" on Luzon in the
Philippines.
Mr .and Mrs. Clayton Buchanan,
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Buchanan and
children, Joe, Clayton and Ann, all
of Macon, and Mrs. Albert Beeland
of Atlanta were guests the past week
end of Mr. and Mrs. James Buchanan
and helped their mother, Mrs. C. W.
Buchanan, celebrate her 82nd birth
day.
Mrs. James Buchanan left Sunday
for Madison, Wis., where she is visit
ing Mrs. Harris Allen for ten days.
Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Nutt Jr. an
nounce the birth of a daughter Aug
ust 4 at a Charleston, S. C., hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert F. Schwamlein

Alice, left Monday for their home in
Pottsville, Pa., after spending a
month with Mrs. Alice Law at Indian
Springs.
Friends of Mrs. R. L. Hammond
will be sorry to know that she had
the misfortune to break her right
arm when she fell at her home Sat
urday night.
Mrs. George Mallet is improving
at Georgia Baptist hospital in Atlan
ta, her friends are glad to know.
Mrs. Ralph Barnwell of Atlanta is
visiting her mother, Mrs. J. R. Car
michael.
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Vaughn of
LaGrange visited Mrs. H. M. Vaughn
over the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Land and
Pat spent last week at Savannah and
Savannah Beach where they attended
the State Rural Letter Carriers con
vention. They will leave Sunday for
Tampa, Fla., where they will attend
the National Letter Carriers con
vention.
Dr. W. E. Barfield is spending this
week at Savannah Beach with Mrs.
Barfield and their two daughters.
Mrs. Mary Sue McEvoy and daugh
ter of Tampa, Fla., were guests Wed
nesday of Mr. and Mrs. R. P.Sasnett.
Judge and Mrs. Jule W. Felton and
Jule Jr. of Atlanta are spending
several days with Mr. and Mrs. R. P.
Sasnett.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Thornton
and daughter, June, of Macon, were
guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. S. H.
Thornton.
Mrs. Lester Duncan left Friday to
join Mr. Duncan in Mountain City,
Tenn. They will return by way of
Chimney Rock, N. C. for their son,
Harkness, who has been in camp at
Lake Lure for eight weeks.
Mrs. David Gray visited her bro
ther, Mr. Charlie Mitchell, who has
been in the Augusta hospital over
the weekend. Mrs. Gray is very hap
py to report that they brought Mr.
Mitchell home for a ninety day trial
visit.

TO BEGIN ON AUGUST 10
Revival services at Liberty Bap
tist church will begin Sunday, Aug
ust 10, with the Rev. M. M. Young
blood of LaFayette, Ga., as guest
minister. Night services will be held
at 8:30 o’clock. Plans are also being
made for a Vacation Bible school to
be held the same week. Classes will
be held from 2 to 5 p. m. daily. All
young people are invited to join one
of the classe*.
