On The Farm Production Front By B. B. CAMPBELL COUNTY AGENT Farmers are again reminded of the community meetings which are being scheduled throughtout the county. Color projection slides taken in the county will be used to emphasize important cultural practices. There will be discussions of pasture im provement, Out-of-State-Tour, corn production, poultry development and other projects. Meeting is scheduled for Jenkinsburg, on Friday night, Feb. 22, at 8:00; Worthville club house, Wednesday night, Feb. 27, at 8:00 Iron Springs clubhouse Friday, Feb. 29 at 8:00; and Jackson post office, Monday, March 3 at 8:00. All members of the Butts County Pasture Association will certainly want to attend the pasture tour scheduled in Walton county on Fri day, Feb 29. The group will leave the postoffice at Jackson tU. 8:30 A. M. We will visit Mr. T. R. Breed love’s dairy farm and an outstanding beef cattle farm. These two farms will have what is considered the best livestock and pasture program in Georgia. The Summerour Farms of Winder Georgia will have a pure bred pol led Hereford sale on Friday, Feb. 29 when 50 polled Herefords cattle will be sold; 22 bulls, 12 mature cows and 12 heifers. The North Georgia Hereford Association will hold their 9th annual show and sale at Lafayette, Ga., on Wednesday, March 5-show at 10:00 and sale at 12:00. There will be offered for sale all registered cattle, 21 horned and 9 polled bulls; 49 horned and 15 polled females. CARD OF THANKS The family of Mr. O. E. White, chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, an nounced and qualified this week as a candidate for re-election in the March primary. Mr. White, heading the ticket in the 1948 primary and named chairman, is now completing the last year of a four year term. He is one of the best known citi- zens of the county, having been iden tified with public affairs for several years. He is a former county warden and is recognized as an experienced 1 road builder. He served eight years |as Butts County Coroner. Resident j of the Stark community, where he is a member of the Baptist church, Mr. White points to the fact that forest protection was instituted during his administration. In seeking re-election Mr. White declared he wants anoth er term to complete the Health Cen ter, plans for which are now being completed. That Mr. White is popular and has a host of personal friends and politi cal supporters is attested by the large vote he has always received in his previous campaigns. A large group of friends will accord Mr. White loyal support in his bid for re election to the post of County Com missioner. He has acted as deputy sheriff and always takes an active interest in pol itics. Baptist laymanf member of St. Johns lodge No. 45 F&AM and a Knights Templar, he is active in \ county and community affairs. Mr. Jones has an influential family con nection, is well known and well liked and friends predict he will be ac corded hearty support in this cam paign. Mr. Jones is a candidate for the term begining January 1, 1953. RHEUMATISM AND BAD WEATHER TOO MUCH FOR BIRTHDAY HIKE Uncle Charlie Shepherd, colored brick mason and artisan, who was 77 years old February 15, planned to observe his birthday by walking to Fincherville, but bad weather for ced postponement of the trip. It is likely that rheumatism also played a part in cancelling the 10 or more mile hike.
