B. Biles Jr. complimented their lovely daughters, Linda Morgan and Faye Biles, with a party celebrating their ninth birthdays February 18 at the Stark Community clubhouse. Thirty-three guests were present to enjoy this delightful occasion. Af ter several interesting games were played, ice cream and individual cakes were served, together with slices from the lovely birthday cake. PEPPERTON WMU MEETS The regular February meeting of the Pepperton Missionary Society was held at the church. Sweet Hour of Prayer was the opening song, and Miss Myrtle Rose Grant offered prayer. Mrs. Lonnie Rawls brought the de votional on “Prayer Life.” Miss Mary Rawls was in charge of the program, the theme of which was, “The Ministry of Prayer.” Mrs. Lucile Scarborough, benevolent chairman, reported several get well and sympathy cards sent. The report on Community Missions was given, the chairman, Mrs. Maddox, being absent. Mrs. Cook, Sunbeam chair man, reported 18 present. Mrs. Grant presided at the short business session, and Mrs. Scar borough gave the closing prayer. PER SON AT Mrs. J. D. McKinnon spent last week with Mrs. Mattie Thaxton is East Point. THE JACKSON PROGRESS-ARGUS, JACKSON, GEORGIA JACKSON PTA TO MEET FEBRUARY 28 The Jackson PTA will hold its reg ular February meeting on Thursday evening, Feb. 28, at 8 p. m. in the Jackson grammar school auditorium. Mrs. Roy Prosser, president of the Jackson chapter, announces that the theme for the month is “Building Firm Foundation for the Citizen Child Through Loyalty To Our Foun ders.” Teachers and pupils of the Jackson grammar school will present the pro gram for the meeting. NORTH BUTTS HD CLUB HAS MEETING The North Butts HD Club met | February 15 at the home of Mrs. Gus Cook for an all-day meeting. Each member brought a covered dish and at the noon hour a delicious lunch was served. After lunch the presi dent, Mrs. Curtis Willimson, presided and Mrs. George Ingram gave the devotional and the Lord’s Prayer was repeated in unison. It was planned to have a chicken stew March 1. Mrs. Davis gave a demonstration on bottoming a chair with cane and another one with fiber rush. Every one enjoyed the fellowship. The hostess served homemade candy and tea. The North Butts HD Club wishes to make the following correction to article of Jan. 31: The organization, namely, North Butts Home Demon stration Club, not council, is engaged in building a community house, not 4-H clubhouse. This community house is to serve the entire North Butts area. This building when com pleted wiill serve the religious, civic and youth organizations of the com munity. PERSONAL Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Hasty of Griffin were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Moel chert Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. AND MRS. PINCKNEY ARE HOSTS AT EVENING DINNER Dr. and Mrs. Robert Pinckney en tertained at a delightfully informal dinner Thursday evening at their home in Jenkinsburg. Their guests included Mr. and Mrs. and Mrs. P. H. Weaver, Mr. and Mrs. Newt Etheredge, Mr. and Mrs. H#w ard Jolly, Mr. and Mrs. 0. L. Weaver Jr. MRS. MILLER HOSTESS TO GARDEN CLUB Mrs. T. B. Miller entertained the Hawthorn Garden Club at the Feb ruary meeting. Mrs. Avon Gaston was a welcomed visitor. The presi dent, Mrs. M. C. Johnson, presided. Mrs. Lee Carmichael led the devo tional, followed with prayer. The club voted to give five dollars to the March of Dimes and four dol lars to Boys’ Estate. Mrs. Lee Carmichael, program chairman, gave an article on Green ery and Berry Plants which can be used in winter months. She also de scribed the “Magic Lily.” Also an instructive article on Camellias and Azaleas was given. Mrs. M. C. Johnson won first place on flower arrangement and Mrs. Lee Carmichael on specimen. Mrs. Miller served a congealed fruit salad, toasted nuts and coffee. PERSONAL Mr. and Mrs. Walter Williams, Mrs. Emmett Williams and Mrs. Maud Willimson were recent visitors to the Strother Camellia Gardens near Marshallville.
