Dr. Pritchett Be
At Clinic Here
Until First July
Dr. J. H. Pritchett, graduate of
the University of Georgia Medical
School in the class of 1948 and
now a practicing physician in Mon
ticello, will take over operation of
the Howell Clinic until Dr. James C.
Howell returns here in the summer
to begin practice.
This arrangement is announced this
week, as Dr. W. G. Hicks prepares
to leave the last of the week for
Florida where he will reside in the
future.
According to the schedule as an
nounced by Dr. Pritchett, he will be
in Jackson each day from 2 p. m.
through the night and will be in
Monticello each morning. This sched
ule will continue until further no
tice, it is explained.
By this arrangement Jackson is as
sured of another physician until mid
summer when Dr. Howell locates
here permanently.
Dr. Pritchett, whose home is in De
catur, Ga., served his internship in
the University Hospital in Augusta
after graduation, then served in the
US Navy for a year, and was sta
tioned in the Naval Hospital in Jack
sonville, Fla. and in New Orleans
and came to Monticello several
months ago from service in Hawaii.
Friends will extend Dt. Pritchett
a sincere welcome to the community.
Dr. and Mrs. Wright Hicks and
son plan to leave this week for
Apopka, Fla., where Dr. Hicks will
engage in practice.

SPEAK MARCH 6 AT
NAZARENE CHURCH
Dr. A. S. London of Kansas City,
Mo., will speak at the Jackson
Church of the Nazarene Thursday,
March 6, at 7:30 p. m. He is a wide
ly known as a church and Sunday
school worker. Rev. Ralph Goodwin,
pastor, says ‘‘We welcome our
friends to hear this great and good
man. He has recently toured Canada
and is at present touring the Geor
gia district. We feel that we are for
tunate in having Dr. London visit
our church.”

Pfc. Algie F. Turner, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Luther Turner of Indian
Springs, stationed at Camp Drum,
N. Y., for several weeks, has been
transferred to Fort Campbell, Ky.
He is attached to a medical division.

COOKING SCHOOL AT
STARK PROVED MOST
SUCCESSFUL AFFAIR
The Cooking School, sponsored by
the Stark HD Club and put on by
City Electric Shop, local GE dealers,
in cooperation with W. D. Alexander
Cos. as state agents for GE, held at
Stark Wednesday afternoon and
Thursday night of last week proved
a great success. The attendance was
large and many attractive prizes
were awarded.
L. J. Washington was awarded a
GE toaster; Mrs. Paul Pickett a GE
waffle iron; Mrs. Mollie Martin a
GE steam iron; Mrs. J. H. Stewart
a GE clock. Many other smaller
prizes were awarded.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Porter of
the Alexander Company talked to
the group Thursday night. The spon
soring agency desires to thank all
who assisted in any way, the REA
for running lines to the community
house, Mrs. Cynthia Davis and Mrs.
Richard Watkins and Mrs. MacDow
all, who was in active charge of the
cooking school.
