James M. Hobbs
Dies of Seizure
James Milton Hobbs, 33, resident
of Butts county four years and saw
mill operator at Flovilla, died Mon
day afternoon as the result of a
heart seizure. Stricken while work
ing in the woods, he was pronounced
dead upon arrival at a doctor’s of
fice.
Born in Monroe county February
8, 1917, son of Benjamin Franklin
Hobbs and Mrs. Nora Adella Hobbs,
he was engaged in the lumber indus
try since living in Butts county. He
■was a member of the Baptist Church.
Mr. Hobbs was a veteran of World
World 11.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Pearl
Maddox Hobbs; sons, James E. and
Glenn Hobbs; daughters, Florence,
and twins, Polly and Peggy Hobbs;
sisters, Mrs. Jack Elliott of Fayette
ville; Mrs. L. P. Jones Jr. of Seven
Springs, N. C.; Mrs. Zilla Wilder of
Locust Grove and Mrs. W. J. Hill of
McDonough; brothers, Frank H. of
Lumpkin and John Hobbs of Locust
Grove; father, B. F. Hobbs of Lo
cust Grove.
Funeral services were held Wed
nesday at 3 p. m. in the Flovilla
Baptist Church with Rev. L. L. Min
ton officiating. Burial was in the
cemetery at Starrsville with Peacock
& Ball Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.

Set April 22 in
Jackson School
The Jackson chapter Future Farm
ers of America will be host for the
public speaking and quartet contest
scheduled for Wednesday night, April
22, at 7 o’clock in the grammar
school auditorium.
Twelve surrounding schools are
eligible to enter these contests. The
number entering has not been de
t rmined at this time. The schools in
tie following counties may enter:
Butts, Monroe, Newton, Henry,
Spalding, Pike, Upson, Fayette, Cow
eta and Clayton.
The speaking contest is sponsored
by the Future Farmers of America
Foundation, while the quartet contest
is sponsored by Abraham Baldwin
Agricultural College at Tifton.
