OWALIGA HD CLUB PLANS

The Towaliga HD Club held its
su al meeting with the devotional
v virs. Hughie Webb. A lengthy
,-eussion was held on moving the
all) p at Indian Swings. This was re
nted as having to be done. Mrs.
vnthia Davis, HDA, reported on the
style revue in Jackson May 19. Sev
ere! national concerns will have dis
plays. Admission this will go to
building the camp. A cooking school
was announced, proceeds to go to the
camp. v
The county council plans a barbe
cue on the courthouse square July 1
with proceeds to be used for camp
fund. A tour to Rock Eagle was plan
ned for April 30. The dress revue
was held at this meeting.
In pre-school dresses Donna Mad
!dox won first, Charlene Weaver sec
end. Billy Fletcher was first in little
boys suits. In the sack dress display
Mrs. D. W. Singley was first. In
house dress class Mrs. Hunt Ridge
way was first, Mrs. J. C. McClendon
and Mrs. Lovett Fletcher tieing for
second. In casual dresses Mrs. Paul
Letson was first, Mrs. O. L. Weaver
second and Mrs. Hughie Webb third.
Cookies, sandwiches and punch
was served by the hostesses.

Mrs. J. E. Calkins and Mrs. Jessie
Mitchell return this week to their
home, at Indian Springs after spend
ing the winter in Coral Gables, Fla.
Mrs. R. R. Pendleton, Linda and
Romie of Columbia, S. C., Sgt. R. R.
Pendleton of Fort McPherson and
Major Dewey Pursley of Fort Jack
son, S. C., spent the weekend with
Mr .and Mrs. Herman Apple and fam
ily.

THE STIRLING STRATFORDS
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Watkins
were hosts Saturday evening at a
delightful buffet supper in honor of
Mr .and Mrs. Stirling Stratford, of
Columbus, whose marriage on April
1 in Atlanta was widely attended by
Jackson friends. Mrs. Stratford is
the former Miss Jane Collins. t
The charming home of the hosts
was becomingly festooned with spring
flowers. Following the delicious
meal, the guest* played several card
games with the recent bride win
ning the top prize.
Present on this enjoyable occasion
were Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey Futral,
Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Collins, Mr. and
Mrs. R. F. Armstrong, Miss Christine
Hardy, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Brown
of Locust Grove.
WORTHVILLE GA GIRLS MET
APRIL 10 AT THE CHURCH
The GA Girls of Worthville Bap
tist Church met at the church on
April 10 with 12 members answering
roll call and one visitor.
In the absence of the president
and vice president, Betty Cleveland
was in charge of the business session
and the program was opened by sing
ing “We’ve A Story To Tell To the
Nations.” Mrs. Alton Kitchens
brought the devotional and led in
prayer. The program was from The
World Comrades and members took
part.
Mrs. Alton Kitchens gave the story,
“Jugar in Mexico,” and closed with
prayer.
Delicious refreshments were served
by Mrs. L. J. Washington.

hour of the .meeting is 3 o’clock.

JVestover Field where they emplaned
for Tripoli to join Mr. Jackson, sta
tioned with the Middle East District
Corps of Engineers in North Africa.
Mrs. Jackson is the former Miss Edna
Allen. Jackson friends wish them the
best of luck while stationed in the
Middle East.
