DIES IN LOS ALAMOS, N. M.
Friends of Mr. and Mrs. L. M.
Spencer sympathize with them in
the death of Mrs. Spencer’s brother
in-law, F. R. Wegner, of Los Ala
mos, New Mexico. His death was the
result of a heart attack suffered
Friday morning, May 1.
Mr. Wegner was superintendent
of the Los Alamos schools, that city
having been made famous by the
experiments in nuclear fission car
ried out there during the late years
of World War 11.

Scouts Forming
Plans For Summer
West Coast Meet
J. H. Carlton of Thomastbn has
been selected as the leader to go with
the boys from the Flint River Coun
cil to the National Jamboree to be
held in California in July of this
year. He is Scoutmaster of 25 years
service of Troop 25 in the First
Methodist Church in Thomaston. He
holds the Silver Beaver Award for
outstanding service to boyhood in

this Council and has completed the
Scoutmaster Training of the Boy
Scouts. He was one of the leaders
for the boys from this Council who
attended the International Jamboree
held at Massone, France, in 1947.
All of the boys attending from
this section of the state will be for
med into Jamboree Scout Troop and
will operate as such with a Scout
master and two assistants for the
rip. The trip, in addition to 10 days
at the Jamboree at Irvine Ranch on
the Pacific Coast near Los Angeles,
will include sight seeing in St. Louis,
Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs, Salt
Lake City (and a swim in Salt Lake),
San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, (in
cluding a boat trip to Canada), Yel
lowstone Park and Chicago. The en
tire trip will be in Pullman with one
Jamboree Troop to a Pullman.
The reservations are about full.
However, there probably will be can
cellations so any Boy Scout who
might want to go and has not made
a reservation may inquire with his
Scoutmaster at the Flint River Coun
cil office in Griffin.

cows and springers, $l5O per head.
Beef cows advanced from 50 cents
to $1 per cwt, a report by the com
pany disclosed.
