Jackson Divides
Monticello Games
Thursday Night
Jackson and Monticello renewed
their athletic rivalry Thursday night
in the Jackson gymnasium, dividing
the honors as Jackson’s girls took a
63-39 victory, while the Monticello
boys were avenging an earlier season
defeat by the Red Devils with a 65-
58 triumph.
Despite Jordan’s 27 points for the
visitors, the Jackson girls romped to
an easy 24-point victory. Coach Pow
ers’ three fine fowards divided the
scoring honors fairly evenly with
Peiagy McElheney leading with 23,
Faye Mitchell hitting for 21 and San
dra Smith bucketing 10. It was a
game that followed closely the pat
tern set when the two teams met in
Monticello several weeks ago.

Coach Slappey’s boys, figuring to
take the Hurricane as they did in a
prior meeting, ran into a team whose
shooting percentage was phenomenal
for one night, at least. John Mcln
tyre, Monticello’s stellar athlete,
proved to be the best player on the
floor, racking up 29 points and doing
effective work under the boards.
