ROBERT RIDGEWAY TENDERED
PARTY ON 7TH BIRTHDAY
Robert Ridgeway, son of Mr. and
Mrs. George R. Ridgeway, observed
his seventh birthday Saturday after
noon with a festive party at the Jack
son Clubhouse which assembled some
40 children, principally classmates
from the first grade with a few from
the second grade.
Mrs. Bill Towles assisted Mrs.
Ridgeway in directing the children in
many merry games.. Favors were hats
and paper horns which added to the
gaiety of the occasion, as well as
marbles for the boys and dolls for
the girls. The clubhouse was prettily
decorated with colorful balloons.
Center of attraction was the white
embossed birthday cake with yellow
and blue decorations and seven light
ed candles. Around the cake was the
birthday song and yellow and blue
balloons. The guests were served ice
cream and individual cakes decorated
with one candle and the name “Rob
ert” Mrs. H. M. Vaughn and Mrs.
Hunt Ridgeway, grandmothers of the
youthful honoree, assisted in serving
and entertaining.
CHEROKEE GARDEN CLUB
MEETS WITH MRS. CARR
The Cherokee Garden Club met
Thursday evening:, February 7. at the
lovely new home of Mrs. Bill Garr.
Mrs. John Hunt served as co-hostess.
The meeting was presided over by
the preident, Mrs. Bert Carmichael.
After a short business session the
program chairman, Mrs. Hunt, pre
sented Mrs. Marlin Spencer who gave
a very delightful review of the book
“Annie Maine”, by Virginia Rowans
alias Patrick Dennis.
At the conclusion of the program,
delicious refreshments were served
by the hostesses.
LIBERTY WMS MET AT
CHURCH ON FEBRUARY 13
Liberty W. M. S. met at the church
on Feb. 13 with eleven members
present. Mrs. David Ridgeway was
a welcome visitor.
“Like A Watered Garden” was the
topic for the month from Royal Ser
vice. Mrs. W. P. Brooks, president,
presided and also gave the devotional
from Psalms and Jeremiah, compar
ing life to a growing plant on good
and barren soil.
Mrs. Forrest Maddox, program
chairman, for the month arranged
the regular program, combined with
the special Annie Armstrong pro
gram. A playlet, “Women of Des
tiny”, was presented by members
with Mrs. Brooks, Mrs. James Tingle,
Mrs. Froest Powell, Mrs. Lewis Weld
on, Mrs. Mayme Hardy, and Mrs.
Hughie Webb taking parts. Mrs. Bal
lard Perdue closed the meeting with
prayer.
During the social period Mrs. J. T.
Maddox, hostess, served attractive
refreshments carrying out the Valen
tine idea.
The next meeting of the WMS will
be at the home of Mrs. Froest Powell
on March 13 at 2 o’clock.

A/3c Carl M. Finney has been
transferred from Amarillo Air Force
Base, Texas, to Macdill Air Force
Base, Fla.
Miss Beth Barnes, Hal Barnes,
Misses Lane, Lucia, and Emily Carr
went up to Atlanta Saturday after
noon for the matinee performance of
“Holiday on Ice”. They were accom
panied by Mrs. Harold Barnes and
Mrs. Ralph Carr, Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jolly spent
the weekend in Reidsville with Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Taylor and family.

on Monday, February 25, for their
regular dinner meeting. In charge of
the program will be the Public Af
fairs Committee, with Mrs. Gladys
Wilson as chairman.
Members are asked by the presi
dent, Mrs. Maymie Coggins, to please
notify her as to whether thew will
be at the meeting which begins at
7 o’clock.

in Macon where they visited Mr.
Watson Fisher who was released Sun
day from a Macon Hospital, and Mrs.
Fisher. Master Bobby Fisher spent
last week in Jackson with Mrs. Mad
dox and accompanied them to Macon
to join his parents.
Miss Leila Sams and Miss Martha
Guest of Atlanta were weekend
guests of Mrs. J. B. Harrison and

club had luncheon at the Bell House
in Macon where a brief meeting was
