Applicant is a non-profit, re
ligious organization originally
chartered by this Court for a
period of twenty years on Feb
ruary 23, 1914, as shown in
Charter Book “1”, pp. 188-189,
Office Clerk Butts Superior
Court.
2.
Applicant’s principal office is
located at 310 East Third Street,
Jackson, Butts County, Georgia.
3.
Applicant’s original charter
was renewed and/or revived for
an additional period of twenty
years on February 8, 1937, as
shown in Charter Book “2”, pp.
69-60, said Clerk’s Office; how
ever, the following order, to-wit:
“THE FIRST BAPTIST
CHURCH OF JACKSON, GEOR
GIA, a corporation, originally
chartered by this Court on the
23rd day of February, 1914, hav
ing duly petitioned this Court
for renewal and/or revival of its
charter for a period of another
20 years, and, it having been
shown that said petition was pro
perly authorized by proper
church action, and, that due ad
vertisement having been made in
the newspaper nearest to said
church, viz: The Jackson Pro
gress-Argus, said advertisement
being for once a week for four
weeks, and, containing a copy of
said petition and a copy of the
minutes of the call meeting of
said church authorizing said re
newal and/or reviver, and, that
said church continued
to function in ignorance of the
expiration of its charter: It is
hereby ordered and adjudged that
the charter of said petitioner be
and the same is hereby renewed
and/or revived for a period of
another 20 years, as prayed for,
with all the rights, powers, pri
vileges, and immunities contained
in the original charter, and,
subject to all the liabilities of
corporations of like kind pre
scribed under the laws of Geor
gia.

Applicant is mailing along with
the two certified copies of this
proceedings, as required by law,
a certified copy of the original
charter, as well as a certified
copy of that portion recorded for
its renewal and/or revival, as set
forth above.

Applicant asks that its corpo
rate name be amended to read:
THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH
OF JACKSON, GEORGIA, INC.,
in compliance with Section 22-
1802 (a) of the 1933 Code of
Georgia, as amended.
6.
Applicant desires its charter
renewed, revived, and reincorpo
rated under the “1938 Corpora
tion Law” (Ga. Laws, 1937-1938,
pp. 214-247), and the laws
amendatory thereof, for a period
of thirty-five years.
7.
Applicant has continued to
function as a corporation in ig
norance of the expiration of its
renewed and/or revived charter,
and it desires the Court to ap
prove, ratify, and sanction all
corporate acts done since said
expiration.
8.
Applicant simultaneously here
with exhibits to the Court a
certificate of the Secretary of
State of Georgia showing that
the proposed corporate name is
not the name of any other exist
ing corporation registered in his
office.
9.
Applicant’s Board of Deacons
has approved the filing of this
petition, as shown by an extract
from its minutes attached hereto,
marked as “EXHIBIT A”, and
made a part hereof.
WHEREFORE:
Applicant prays (1) the es
tablishment of the foregoing copy
as an original; (2) the renewal
and/or revival of its charter and
its reincorportion under the
“1938 Corporation Law,” and the
laws amendatory thereof; (3)
the amendment of its corporate
name and style; (4) the approval,
ratification, and sanction of cor-
porate acts done during the
period of charter expiration; (6)
that it have all the benefits,
privileges, and immunities allow
ed corporations of like kind in
Georgia.

THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH
OF JACKSON, GEORGIA, which
was renewed and/or revived on
the Bth day of February, 1937,
has heretofore expired and the
Church has continued to function
as a corporate body in ignorance
thereof:
Whereas, It is the desire of
this body that the charter be
renewed, revived, and that the
Church be reincorporated under
the “1938 Corporation Law",
and the laws amendatory thereof,
for a period of 35 years; that the
suffix ‘lnc.’ be added to the cor
porate name; and that the cor
porate acts done during the
period of charter expiration be
approved, ratified, and sanction
ed;
Now, therefore: Be it resolved
that whatever necessary steps as
might be required to accomplish
the foregoing be taken prompt
ly.
I, the undersigned secretary
clerk of the Board of Deacons
of The First Baptist Church of
Jackson, Georgia, hereby certify
that the above is a true and cor
rect extract from the Minutes of
the specially called meeting of
such body held at the Church on
May 21st, 1962, at 7:30 p. m.,
after due written notice to all
members, and a majority being
present—said resolution being
duly made and seconded, was
adopted.

ORDER OF COURT
READ AND CONSIDERED.
The First Baptist Church of Jack
son, Georgia, a corporation, orig
inally chartered by this Court on
the 23rd day of February, 1914,
for a period of twenty years, and
its charter having been renewed
and/or revived for another
period of twenty years on Bth
day of February, 1937, having
duly applied to this Court for
charter renewal and/or revival
and reincorporation under the
“1938 Corporation Law,” and
laws amendatory thereof, as well
as for amendment of its name
and style, the approval, ratifi
cation, and sanction of acts done
during the time of charter expi
ration, and the establishment of
the foregoing copy of the Court
order as an original, and, it being
duly proven that there is no other
existing corporation having the
same name and style registered
in the office of the Secretary of
State of Georgia and that there
exists good and sufficient reason
to grant the prayers of applicant;
IT IS THEREFORE: Consider
ed, ordered, and adjudged that
the original charter as renewed
and/or revived be, and the same
is, hereby renewed and/or re
vived and the corporation be re
incorporated under the “1938
Corporation Law,” and the laws
amendatory thereof, for a period
of thirty-five (35) years from
the 22nd day of May, 1962; that
the name and style be changed
to read: THE FIRST BAPTIST

the limitations and restrictions,

Georgia Rural Roads Authority
as such. Said contract will not
create liability, expressed or im
plied, against the undersigned
Chairman of the Georgia Rural
Roads Authority as an individual,
nor against any employee of the
Georgia Rural Roads Authority
in his or her individual capacity
nor against the State Highway
Department of Georgia, nor
against any officer or employee
of the State Highway Depart
ment in his or her individual
capacity.
Proposals must be submitted
on regular forms which will be
supplied by the undersigned, and
must be accompanied by a certi
fied check, cashier’s check,
negotiable United States Bonds,
or other acceptable security in
the amount of $1,000.00, and
must be plainly marked “Propo
sal for Road Construction,”
County and Number, and show
the time of opening as advertised.
Check of the low bidder will be
cashed and all other checks will
be returned as soon as the con
tract is awarded, unless it is
deemed advisable by the Autho
rity to hold one or more checks.
If an unusual condition arises,
the Authority reserves the right
to cash all checks. Bidders Bond
will not be accepted.
A charge of $5.00 will be
made for each proposal issued.
Such a bond will be required
of the successful bidder as re-
quired by law for contractors
with the State Highway Depart
ment of Georgia.
Contracts will not be awarded
to contractors who have not been
placed on the list of qualified
contractors prior to the date of
award. No proposals will be is
sued to any bidder later than
9 A. M. Eastern Standard Time
of the date of opening bids.
All bids must show totals for
each item and total of amount
of bid. Right is reserved to delay
the award of the contract for a
period of not to exceed thirty
(30) days from the date of open
ing bids, during which period bids
shall remain open and not sub
ject to withdrawal. Right is re
served to reject any and all bids
and to waive all formalities.
Upon compliance with the re
quirements of the standard speci
fications, ninety (90) percent of
the amount of work done in any
calendar month will be paid for
by the 26th day of the succeeding
month, and the remainder within
thirty (30) days after final esti
mate is approved by the En
gineer.

The nation envies Georgia’s record of fire
safety under Zack D. Cravey. Not one Georgia
child has been killed or maimed in a school fire
and not one Georgia hospital or nursing home
patient has been burned to death or injured.
Meanwhile over 3,100 school children and ill
people have perished in fires in sister states.
IMPORTANT
NOTICE
“Be it ordained by the Mayor and City
Council of Jackson, Ga., and it is hereby or
dained by the authority of the same, that from
and after the passage of this ordinance, each
person, firm or corporation owning real estate
within the city limits of Jackson, Ga., whether
residing in City or out of City shall be respon
sible for keeping or having kept, the premises
of his or her property kept free of wild and
abundant growth of vines, weeds, etc. to the ex
tent that said property will not become un
wholesome, unhealthy or a nuisance to the lo
cality in which it is situated.
“Any person, firm or corporation neglect
ing, failing or refusing to comply with this ordi
nance, shall be subject to a fine in the discre
tion of the Mayor.”
