Highlights
BY ANNE ADAMS
The try-outs for the one-act
play were held last week, after
which the following cast was se
lected: Cathy Wise, Lydia Moore,
Linda Turner and Rusty Duke.
The alternates are Joyce Morgan
Jenny Lee Smith, Betty Drake,
Herman Waits. The play, a folk
play, entitled “Pink and Patches”
will be presented at assembly in
January.
Last Friday was a very unusual
day in the life of J.H.S. The
school’s heating system was not
operating correctly, so to keep
warm, the students were sent to
the heated gym. At this assembly,
Mr. Joe Lawley, the director of
the Y Clubs in the Central West
District, showed interesting slides
and explained the purpose of the
activities such as Youth Assem
bly, The Christian Life Confer
ence, and Officers Training Con
ference, of the Y. Clubs. Next
the students enjoyed a variety of
entertainment which included the
singing of Christmas songs, led
by the Glee Club; the singing and
playing performance of a few
FFA boys; and a basketball game
between the Juniors-Seniors and
the Freshman-Sophomores of the
girls’ basketball team. Both teams
were boosted by an all-boy cheer
leading squad. The game ended
in a victory for the Juniors-Sen
iors. After eatirg lunch, the
students were dismissed at one
o’clock.
Congratulations to Miss Joyce
Morgan upon winning the D. A.
R. Good Citizenship Award.
The Library Club will sponsor
a sock hop after the ball game
Friday night December 14th.
