Pre-Nuptial Series of Festivities
Fete Miss Weaver, Bride-Elect
Among current social events
at which Miss Ellen Weaver,
whose marriage to Vincent Barry
Jones, will be an event of Sat
urday afternoon, at the First
Methodist Church, was the kitch
en shower at which Mrs. Lilyan
Weaver and Miss Eve Stephenson
were joint hostesses on Wednes
day afternoon at their home, on
Emory Street in Covington.
The groom’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Vincent Sanford Jones will
be hosts at the rehearsal dinner,
on Friday evening, in Jackson, in
compliment to their son and Miss
Weaver.
On Saturday, Mrs. Charles
Lewis of Atlanta, and her mother
Mrs. Everett Pratt, will be hos
tesses at the bridesmaids lunch
eon, at the latter’s home on
Church St. Also on Saturday, Mr.
Jones, groom-to-be, will be hon
ored at the Elks’ Club, at a bach
elor’s dinner.
Among previous parties ten
dered Miss Weaver were: an At
lanta luncheon at the home of
Mrs. Graham Wood, at her Clif
ton Road home; a miscellaneous
shower given by the personnel of
the Bank of Covington; a delight
ful tea in Jackson, at which Mrs.
L. W. Moelchert and Mrs. Rogers
Starr were co-hostesses; a kitchen
shower, given by Miss Irene Rob
inson at the home of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Guy Robinson; a
brilliant tea, at which Mrs. Lyda
Sue B. Hall was hostess at her
ante-bellum home on Floyd St.;
and a morning coffee on Satur
day, given by Mrs. R. P. Camp

Mr .and Mrs. Hampton Daugh
try of Atlanta came down Wed
nesday of last week to see Mrs.
Bessie Bryans, a patient at
Sylvan Grove Hospital. Others ar
riving during the week because
of the critical condition of Mrs.
Bryans were Mrs. Laura Daugh
try Perrett of Florence, Ala.,
Mrs. Emily Daughtry Bueno of
Connecticut, Mr. Basil Keaton of
Phoenix, Arizona. Mrs. Margueri
ta Bryans Morgan of Macon has
been with Mrs. Bryans during
nights since January 11th.
Friends of Duane Leverette
will be glad to know he returned
home Sunday after a nine-day
stay at Griffin-Spalding County
Hospital. His condition is much
improved.
Mrs. Fletcher Compton re
turned home last week from Grif
fin-Spalding County Hospital.
The many friends of Joe Mc-
Clelland are interested to learn
that he returned home Friday
from Sylvan Grove Hospital.
Miss Mildred Ingram of At
lanta spent the weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. George Ingram and fam
ily.
Miss Margaret Foster returned
to her home here about ten days
ago from Emory University Hos
pital where she underwent sur
gery.
Laura Lee McCrary and Rob
bie McCrary of Atlanta spent the
weekend with their grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. W. 0. Ball, while
their parents visited in Macon.
Friends of Mr. R. P. Newton
regret to learn that he is con
fined to his bed with a cold.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart L. Mad
dox of Atlanta will be guests Sun
day of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Mad
dox and other relatives.
Mrs. John Bob Weaver of Cov
ington visited Mrs. Vincent Jones
on Tuesday.
