NOTICE OF BOND ELECTION
TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS
OF BUTTS COUNTY, GEORGIA
YOU ARE HEREBY NOTI
FIED that on the Ist day of
March, 1963, an election will be
held in said County, at which
election there will be submitted
to the qualified voters thereof for
their determination the question
of whether or not bonds in the
aggregate principal amount of
$250,000 shall be issued by Butts
County School District for the
purpose of providing funds to ac
quire, construct, and equip an
auditorium at the Jackson High
and Elementary School, to ac-
quire, construct and equip a gym
natorium at the Henderson High
and Elementary School, to add to,
improve, repair and equip exist
ing educational facilities of the
Butts County School System, to
acquire the necessary property
therefor, both real and personal,
and to pay expenses incident to
accomplishing the foregoing, said
bonds, if so authorized, are to he
dated April 1, 1963, in the de
nomination of SI,OOO each, num
bered consecutively from 1 up
ward to 250, inclusive, in order
of maturity, bonds numbered 1
to 114, inclusive, maturing in the
years 1964 to 1974, inclusive, to
bear interest from date at the
rate of three and one-fourth per
centum (3%%) per annum and
bonds numbered 116 to 260, in
clusive, maturing in the years
1975 to 1983, inclusive, to bear
interest from date at the rate of
three and forty one-hundredths
per centum (3.40%) per annum,
all interest payable July 1, 1963
and semi-annually thereafter on
the Ist days of January and July
in each year and the principal
to mature on the Ist day of Jan
uary, lowest numbers first, in the
years and amounts, as follows:
$9,000 in each of the years
1964 to 1967, inclusive,
SIO,OOO in each of the years
1968 and 1969.
SII,OOO in each of the years
1970 to 1972, inclusive,
$12,000 in the year 1973,
$13,000 in each of the years
1974 to 1976, inclusive,
$14,000 in each of the years
1977 and 1978,
$15,000 in the year 1979,
$16,000 in each of the years
1980 and 1981,
$17,000 in the year 1982,
SIB,OOO in the year 1983.
The principal of and interest
on said bonds shall be payable in
lawful money of the United
States of America at a bank or
banks to be designated later.
Those desiring to vote for the
issuance of said bonds for the
above stated purpose shall do so
by casting their ballot having
written or printed thereon the
words: “FOR ISSUE OF $260.-
000 BUTTS COUNTY SCHOOL
DISTRICT BONDS”, and those
desiring to vote against the issu
ance of said bonds for the above
stated purpose shall do so by
casting their ballots having writ
ten or printed thereon the words:
“AGAINST ISSUE OF $260,000
BUTTS COUNTY SCHOOL
DISTRICT BONDS”.
The several places for holding
said election shall be at the reg
ular and established voting pre
cincts of Butts County, Georgia,
and the polls will be open from
7:00 o’clock A. M. to 7:00 o’clock
P. M., Eastern Standard Time, on
the day fixed for the election.
All persons qualified to vote in
general elections and only those
registered and qualified to vote
in general elections will be al
lowed to vote in this election.

By authority invested in secu
rity deed dated August 31, 1962
to Marion W. and Nell B.
Reeves and because of default in
payments thereunder by Paul H.
Anderson, grantor, the following
property will be sold before the
courthouse door in Jackson, Butts
County, Georgia between the
legal hours thereof on the
first Tuesday in February 1963
to satisfy said security deed, said
lands being described as follows.
A parcel or lot of land lying
and being in the 616th District
I G. M. Butts County, Georgia, and
I known as Lot No. 258 in Section
5 of subdivision according to plat
by W. A. Holston, dated April
1958, recorded in plat book 1,
page 73 in office of Clerk Su
perior Court, Butts County, Geor
gia, same fronting on lake of
Georgia Power Company a width
of 100 feet and southwesterly on
public road a width of 80 feet.
Same to be sold to the highest
bidder. The amount due upon
same being the sum of $2800.00
plus interest.

TO THE SUPERIOR COURT
OF SAID COUNTY
FARMERS UNION WARE
HOUSE COMPANY, INC. of said
State and County shows to the
court the following fact:
1.
Petitioner’s charter was grant
ed by this Honorable Court on
the 20th day of April 1957 and
said charter was accepted by the
organizers of said corporation
and since that time petitioner has
functioned as a corporation.
2.
Petitioner shows that at a
meeting of the stock holders of
said corporation, duly called for
that purpose, a resolution was
adopted by the affirmative vote
of the owners of two thirds of
the capital stock of petitioner, re
solving that the corporation shall
surrender its charter to the State
and dissolved as a corporation.
3.
Petitioner shows that such dis
solution may be allowed without
an injustice to any stock holder
or any person having claims or
demands of any character against
said corporation.
WHERE FORE, petitioner
prays that an order be granted
fixing the time for a hearing of
this petition not less than four
weeks from the time of
such order, and that said petition
be ordered filed in the office of
the clerk of said court, and a
copy of the petition and order
published once a week for 4
weeks in the Jackson Progress-
Argus, the official gazette of said
County and that petitioner be dis
solved.

School News
Highlights

The One-Act Play cast pre
sented their play entitled “Pink
and Patches’’ at assembly Tues
day. Also, two members of the
speech class, Betty Drake and
Bruce Comer, presented their
outstanding speech recitals. The
recitals consisted of material
which was organized to develop
their chosen topic. Betty’s recital
was entitled “A Profile of Histo
ry;’’ Bruce’s, “O Soldier’s View
of War and Death.”
Students are greatly enthused
over the possibility of having a
new auditorium. They realize that
this has been needed for a long
time and would be something to
really take pride in.
The Debating Team has been
invited by Emory University to
participate in the Barkley Forum
on Feb. 9th. This is a debating
tournament to which high schools
in southeastern states are invited
to send contestants. Mrs. Virgil
Bryant is the debate sponsor.
The study hours, which are
held each Monday, are proving to
be very beneficial to the students.
Students would like to express
their appreciation to the teachers
for their devoted time and effort.
Congratulations to Larry Lof
ton upon being selected FHA
“Sweetheart.” Larry was chosen
on the basis of his work in the
FFA. The FHA will have a dance
in Larry’s honor in February. The
FHA has also scheduled their
Mother-Daughter banquet for
March 28th.
In the Science Club’s meeting
on Friday, the program was on
the March of Dimes. Mr. Don
Crump, Chairman of March of
Dimes campaign in Butts County,
explained the drive in Butts
County and showed an inspiring
film concerning the work of the
March of Dimes in helping chil
dren with polio, and birth defects.
The members of the Science Club
voted to contribute to this very

Worthville Rites
Held Friday For
Sam Williamson
Funeral services for Mr. Sam
Watson Williamson, 57, Route 1,
Jackson, were held Friday after
noon at 3 o’clock from the Worth
ville Baptist Church with Rev.
Argin Floyd, pastor, officiating
with interment in Worthville
Cemetery.
Mr. Williamson, a retired line
man for Central Georgia Electric
Membership Corporation, died
Wednesday afternoon shortly
after being admitted to the Grif
fin-Spalding County Hospital. A
life long resident of Butts Coun
ty, Mr. Williamson was the son
of the late Mr. Ezra Williamson
and Mrs. Essie McClure William
son. He was a member of the
Worthville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Katherine Ogletree Williamson;
two daughters, Mrs. Rabun Mc-
Donald of Covington; Mrs. J. B.
Glass of Griffin; two sons, Rich
ard Williamson and James Wil
liamson, both of Jackson; two
brothers, Harvey Williamson of
Jackson and Nollie Williamson of
Rex; six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Lamar King,
Melvin Ogletree, Bobby Jack Wil
liamson, Bobby Price, Dean Wil
liamson, Chester Williamson.
Haisten Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
FROZEN FOOD STORAGE
The most common cause of
poor quality in frozen foods is
storage temperature too high. For
satisfactory storage the temper
ature should be zero degrees
Fahrenheit or lower. A single ex
posure to temperatures much too
high can cause severe damage to
food. Repeated exposures to tem
peratures only a few degrees too
high can do the same thing, says

Friends will be sorry to learn
Mrs. Belle Weaver fell sometime
during Friday night and suffered
several bruises, but x-rays showed
no fractures. Following the x
rays, Mrs. Weaver was returned
to the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Hughie Webb.

return their property at City Hall before April
1, 1963. This includes automobiles and house
furniture as well as real estate. No exemption

weekend with his mother, Mrs.
Ruby G. Long and family.
Mrs. D. T. Long spent last
week in Macon with her daughter,
Mrs. J .T. Caldwell, and on Sun
day visited Mrs. B. I. Singleton
in Hawkinsville.
