County, Georgia, 13.5 mills, or
$13.50 Dollars on the Thousand
Dollars of taxable property.

and interest on School Bonds, as

said Department.
(e) The Board of Tax Asses
sors and the expenses for the ope
ration of said Department.
(f) The Clerk of Superior
Court and the expenses for the
operation of said Department.
(g) The Court of Ordinary and
the expenses for the operation of
said Department.
(h) To provide for the opera
tion of Courts, the maintenance
and support of prisoners and the
handling of litigation affecting
the County.
(i) Establish and conduct
health and sanitation programs
and provide for the collection
and preservation of records and
vital statistics.
(j) The Sheriff of Butts Coun
ty, the Deputy Sheriffs thereof,
and the expenses for the opera
tion of said Department, includ
ing the Jail, the care of prisoners
confined therein, and the expen
ses therefor.
(k) Furnishing supplies to each
Justice of the Peace.
(l) Pay the salary of the Coun
ty Coroner and the expenses of
said Department.
(m) Pay County Agricultural
and Home Demonstration Agents
and conduct programs for utiliz
ing the services of such agents.
(n) Establish and conduct pro
grams of welfare benefits and
public assistance as may be pro
vided by law.
(o) To provide for the paying
of the principal and interest of
any debt of the County and to
provide a sinking fund therefor,
including debts legally incurred
prior to the current year.
(p) Provide fire protection for
forest lands and conserve natural
resources.
(q) To build and repair the
public bridges and buildings.
(r) To provide for reasonable
reserves for public improvements
as may be fixed by law.
(s) To provide medical or other
care and hospitalization of the
indigent sick.
(t) Provide insurance, retire
ment, and pension benefits, cover
age under Federal Old Age and
Survivors Insurance programs,
hospitalization benefits and work
men’s compensation benefits for
its Officers and employees, their
dependents and survivors.
(u) Acquire, canstruct, main
tain, improve, or aid in the acqui
sition, construction, maintenance
or improvements of public build
ings, bridges, county roads, parks,
public libraries, and other proper
ties for public use; and, to ac
quire real property, or any inter
est therein to carry out the fore
going as provided by law; and, to
furnish all necessary supplies, of
fice supplies, office fixtures, sta
tionary, stamps, telephones, utili
ties, dockets, ledgers, motor ve
hicles, automobiles, trucks, road
machinery and equipment, or any
other item or article of property
in connection with the foregoing.
16.5 mills, or $16.50 on the
thousand dollars of taxable pro
perty in Butts County, Georgia;
in addition to the State Tax in
the amount of V* mill, or $.25
on the thousand dollars of tax
able property.
IV. For payment of principal
and interest on County Bonds

dollars on the thousand dollars,
of taxable property subject there
to.

“The Flint River Production
Credit Association reached an all
time high in credit service to ag
riculture by extending $5,592,-
000, in short and intermediate
term credit to 311 farmers in the
association’s territory during the
fiscal year ended July 31, 1969,”
Grover C. Worsham, Jr., manager
of the association reported this
week.
The association is a farmer
owned and operated credit co
operative serving farmers of
Butts, Clayton, DeKalb, Fayette,
Fulton, Henry, Lamar, Monroe,
Pike, Spalding, Taylor and Upson
counties with the principal office
located at Thomaston and a
branch office located at Jones
boro.

loan volume for the year 1969
was 32% more than for 1968 and
included service to 43 new farm
er-members, according to Mr.
Worsham.
