LaFayette Ceremony Unites

Miss Lynda Ruth Bartlett be
came the bride of Douglas Rich
ard Ballard Saturday afternoon,
September 20th, at four o’clock
in the Gordon Luke Wesleyan
Church of LaFayette, Ga. The
impressive ceremony was per
formed before an altar of arched
candelabra with white burning
tapers, baskets of white autumn
flowers, and greenery. The cere
mony was performed by Rev.
John W. Hill, pastor of the
church, and Rev. John Crowder,
Jr. A program of nuptial music
was provided by Mrs. Elizabeth
Hasty.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Ruth M.\ Bartlett of La-
Fayette, Ga. and John 1). Bart
lett of LaFayette. The parents of
the bridegroom are Mr. and
Mrs. D. Roland Ballard of Barnes
ville, Ga.
The bride, given in marriage
by her brother, J. Howard Bart
lett, was lovely in a gown of
chantilly lace with scoop neck,
long pointed sleeves and chapel
train. Her veil of silk illusion
fell from a head piece of velvet
and seed pearls. She carried a
bouquet of majestic daisies, gar
denias, and tube roses.
Miss Sara Martin, cousin of
the bride, was her only attend
ant and wore a floor length
gown of aqun blue crepe. Her
head piece and illusion veil were
in a matching shade. She carried
a bouquet of yellow majestic
daisies.
D. Roland Ballard was his son's
best man and ushers were Paul
K. Martin, Jr. and James A.
Webb.
The bride’s mother wore a two
piece powder blue silk shantung
dress with navy accessories. The
bridegroom's mother wore a pink
linen sheath with lace trim and
matching accessories. Both moth
ers had corsages of white or
chids.
RECEPTION
A reception was held in the j
Surrey dining room following
the ceremony. Hostesses were
Mrs. Charles Garmany and Mrs.
Newton Gray. The bride’s table
held the three-tiered wedding
cake, encircled with daisies and
flanked by crystal candelabra
with white candles. Cutting and
serving the cake were Mrs. Ken
neth Hutchison. Miss Marianne
Nix, and Mrs. James Webb. Pre
siding at the punch bowl were
Mrs. Bill Powers and Mrs. Billy
Oliver. Mrs. J. Grady Williams
kept the bride's book.
For going away, the bride
ose a two piece ensemble of
ricot double knit with black
eessories. She wore a gardenia
corsage from her bridal bouquet.
After a wedding trip to Gatlin
burg, the couple will reside in
Jackson, Ga.

COCHRAN—Seven new cheer
leaders have been selected from
39 candidates at Middle Georgia
College.
The seven will join the three
returnees from last year's cheer
leader squad. Those returning are
Debbie Hodges of Jackson, Iris
Weeks of Wadley and Cynthia
Smith of Cochran. Miss Hodges
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
M. L. Hodges Jr. of Jackson.

FEARS-JONES WEDDING

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred D. Fears
of Jackson announce the wedding
of their daughter, Marcia Denise,
to Alan Jones, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Vincent Jones of Jackson.
The wedding was solemnized
October 11th in Aiken, South
Carolina and was attended by
friends of the couple.
The bride is the granddaughter
of Mrs. Bob Fears of Jackson
and the late Mr. Robert L. Fears,
Mrs. E. K. Kicklighter and the
late Mr. W. E. Andrews of Col
lins. Mrs. Jones will graduate
from Emory-at-Oxford in March.
Mr. Jones is the grandson of
the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Doyle
Jones, Sr. of Jackson and the late
Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Pope of Zeb
ulon. He is a student at Georgia
State University.
The couple is making their
home in Atlanta.

Mrs. Fay Harper, who had
been a patient in Griffin-Spald-
County Hospital, came home Sun
day, her many friends will be in
terested to learn.

Miss Karen Elizabeth Kersey,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James
Kersey of Jackson, became the
bride of Charles Hansel Breed
love, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles H. Breedlove Sr. of Sims
berry, Conn., formerly of Jack
son, on Saturday night, Septem
ber 13th at eight o’clock in the
evening at the Kersey home.
The Rev. R. W. Jenkins per
formed the ceremony before an
altar of emerald fern and can
delabra.
Mr. Breedlove Sr. was his son’s
best man. Randy Freeman, neph
ew of the groom, lighted the
candles.
Miss Deborah Jones served as
maid of honor.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a short wed
ding gown and carried a white
Bible topped with a Glamellia and
a cascade of white roses.
Immediately following the cere
mony Mr. and Mrs. Kersey enter
tained at a reception. Assisting
were Miss Debbie Hodges, Mrs.
M. L. Hodges Jr., and Miss Gail
Morgan. Miss Gay Breedlove,
sister of the groom, presided at
the Bride’s book.

Thank you, these two words seem so inade
quate to express the feelings I want to convey

upon me by electing me to the City Council and
