Miss Robison
Buried At
Rites Wednesday
Miss Flora Winfield Robison
of 233 West Second Street, Jack
son, died at Sylvan Grove Hos
pital Monday afternoon after suf
fering a massive stroke at her
home Saturday. She had been in
declining health for a number
of years.
A native of Butts County and
a member of a prominent and in
fluential family, she was the
daughter of Mr. Elwood C. Robi
son of Washington County and
Mrs. Mary Florence Hammond
Robison of Butts County. She was
a graduate of GSCW, Milledge
ville, and for more than 36 years
taught in the Florida School Sys
tem at Quincy, Jacksonville,
Cocoa, and St. Petersburg, until
her retirement a few years ago.
Active in civic and religious
affairs, she was a member of
the William Mclntosh Chapter,
Daughters of the American Rev
olution, the Jackson Business and
Professional Women’s Club, the
Eastern Star, the Jackson United
Methodist Church, and the Wes
leyan Service Guild.
Funeral services were conduc
ted Wednesday afternoon at 3:30
o’clock from the chapel of Hais
ten Funeral Home with Rev. Ray
Dunahoo, pastor of the Jackson
United Methodist Church, offici
ating. Interment was in Jackson
City Cemetery with Haisten Fu
neral Home in charge of arrange
ments.
Miss Robison is survived by a
brother, T. E. Robison, Sr., of
Jackson; a niece, Miss Nancy Ann
Robison, and a nephew, T. E.
Robison, Jr., both of Jackson; a
great niece and two great neph
ews.
Pallbearers were George Hark
ness, D. P. Settle, A. F. Ham
mond, E. M. McCord, G. H.
Brooks, Bernard Carter.
A CORRECTION
In the obituary of W. D. Cook
in last week’s Progress-Argus the
name of one brother, Odell Cook,
of Jackson, was inadvertently
omitted. The Progress-Argus re
grets this error and is glad to
make a correction.
The story should properly read
that Mr. Cook, 48, of Kannapolis,
N. C., a native and former resi
dent of Jackson, is survived by
four brothers, Chester Cook of
Kannapolis, Odell, Baron and
Ellis Cook, of Jackson. Mr. Cook
died October 6th at the Vet
erans Hospital in Durham, N. C.
after a serious illness of six
months.
CARD OF THANKS
I would like to take this op
portunity to say thank you for
all the flower’s, cards, calls and
many other kind deeds during
my stay in Georgia Baptist Hos
pital and my return home.
Thanks again.—Leon Smith.
