Post Christmas Nuptials
Will Join Tyler Watts,
John Byrd Garland
Mr. and Mrs. James Mote
Watts of Milledgeville annouce
the engagement of their daugh
ter, Sara Tyler Watts, to John
Byrd Garland, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Benjamin Byrd Garland of
Jackson. The bride-elect is the
granddaughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. James Mote Watts of
Jackson.
Miss Watts attended Wesleyan
College and received her AB de
gree in Sociology from the Uni
versity of Georgia. She will re
ceive her Master’s degree in So
cial Work from the University
of Georgia in March. Miss Watts
is a member of Kappa Delta so
rority and the Sigma Nu Sweet
heart Court.
Mr. Garland is the grandson
of the late Mr. and Mrs. William
Ernest Watkins of Jackson and
the late Mr. and Mrs. James Jay
Garland of Barnesville.
Mr. Garland will graduate from
the University of Georgia in De
cember, where he will receive a
BBA degree in insurance. Mr.
Garland is president of the In
surance Society, a member of the
Business School Council, and a
member of Sigma Nu social fra
ternity. He plans to attend law
school in the fall.
The wedding will be December
27th at the First United Meth
odist Church in Milledgeville.

in Atlanta Saturday afternoon.

IS BRIDE OF JIMMY BILES
AT CEREMONY SATURDAY
Miss Patricia Ann Thompson,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Felton
D. Thompson of Jackson, and Mr.
James W. Biles, son of Mr. and
Mrs. C. B. Biles, were married
at the home of the groom’s sis
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dunn, on
October 18th. The Rev. A. L.
Price performed the ceremony.
The living room was decorated
with ivory using white candles
and daisies. Charlie Thaxtoh was
the groom’s best man.
Miss Pat Porenana was maid
of honor. She wore a street
length dress of red with a cor
sage of white carnations.
The bride was lovely in a street
length dress of beige with brown
accessories. Her bridal bouquet
was a cascade of yellow roses
with white tuberoses.
Following the wedding a recep
tion was given. Mr. and Mrs.
Biles are making their home on
Biles Road, Jackson.

MASTER BUSH
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Bush of
Jackson announce the birth of a
son, Brian Wilson Bush, on Mon
day, October 20th, at the Griffin-
Spalding County Hospital. Mrs.
Bush will be remembered as the
former Miss Gail Herbert of Jack
son.
JACKSON FHA MEMBERS
ATTEND ATLANTA FAIR
The Jackson Future Home
makers attended the Southeastern
Fair in Atlanta Saturday, Septem
ber 27. They left that morning
at ten o’clock and attended a
Vocational Youth meeting presid
ed over by the F. H. A. State
President, Claire Hayes.
Several state dignitaries that
helped in vocational groups over
the state of Georgia were intro
duced. The girls enjoyed the vari
ous vocational exhibits. Everyone
enjoyed the sights and rides.
The girls returned to Jackson
that evening at five o’clock.—

To Speak At
BPW Meeting
Mrs. Earl Carter, of Plains,
will be guest speaker at the din
ner meeting of the Jaekson
P&PW Club on Monday, October
27th at the Jackson Clubhouse.
The World Affairs Committee,
Mrs. Ruth Watkins, chairman, is
in charge of the program.
Mrs. Carter joined the Peace
Corps at the age of 68 and was
sent to India. She is the mother
of four children and 14 grand
children.
Mrs. Robert C. Edwards, presi
dent, urges all members to be
present for the Monday meeting
which begins at 7 o’clock.

Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Taylor
and Robin spent Sunday in At
lanta with her sister, Mrs. Janet
Ballard, Donna and Chris.
Mrs. Kate Alston, mother of
Mrs. Florence Gibson of Jackson,
sustained a broken hip in a fall
October 13th and was carried to
Sylvan Grove Hospital. She was
later transferred to Griffin-Spald
ing County Hospital where she
remains a patient.
Lt. and Mrs. Bruce Comer, of
Savannah, spent the weekend
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
J. M. L. Comer.
Mr. Howard Simons, who has
been a patient at Sylvan Grove
Hospital for some time, was ad
mitted Tuesday to Living Center
of Griffin, 415 Airport Road,
Griffin, his many friends will be
interested to learn.
Mr. W. M. (Bill) Towles is a
patient at Sylvan Grove Hospital,
his many friends will be inter
ested to know.
