CARD OF THANKS
We would like to take this op
portunity to express our thanks
and appreciation to our host of
friends. The visits, cards, flowers,
food and all remembrances dur
ing her illness and since her
death have meant more to us than
we could ever express with words
and thanks seem so inadequate
but it’s from our heart. We feel
a special indebtedness to all of
our minister friends, Haisten Fu
neral Home and Dr. Oshlag for
the help and comfort they have
shared with us these last two
months, and the many churches
that have kept us before the
throne of grace in prayer.
We have gotten from each of
you the greatest earthly gift pos
sible, that of friendship and hope
to share the eternal gift of Phi
lippians 4:7 with you. And the
peace of God which passeth all
understanding shall keep your
hearts and minds through Christ
Jesus.—Mr. J. W. Browning, Sr.

THURSDAY, DEC. n, 1969
Levie Heath
Robbed By
White Youths
Levie Heath, widely known
Jackson resident, was the victim
of two bold young white burglars
last Thursday night who relieved
him of his billfold with approxi
mately, $lB5 in it and treated him
roughly in the process.
According to Mr. Heath he was
lying on a couch watching tele
vision last Thursday night be
tween 6:30 and 7 o’clock when
there was a knock at the door.
Believing it to be friends he
asked them to come in. Two
grown white boys entered and
asked him if the pony in the
front yard belonged to him. He
told them no and as he arose to
walk to the front door to see the
pony they threw him down on
the couch.
Mr. Heath told the boys that he
was hurting him at which re
mark the other boy grabbed him
and started out the door with
him, one holding his arms, the
other his legs.
While attempting to carry him
out, Mr. Heath said a car with
several Negro boys in it came
by and saw what was going on.
The white boys then threw Mr.
Heath down on the gorund, kick
ing him twice. They then rolled
him under their car and attempt
ed to run over him but he man
aged to escape. The white youths
fled in their car with the colored
boys in pursuit. When the pur
suing car lost the two youths they
reported the incident to the Jack
son Police Department and the
Butts County Sheriff’s Depart
ment.
Mr. Heath was carried to Syl
van Grove Hospital where he was
administered to for several hours.
Mr. Heath told officers he did
not recognize either of the boys
but one had' a scar on his left
cheek and the other a real pimply
face. Neither had on a mask. Mr.
Heath reported they took his bill
fold with approximately $lB5.
The burglary is under investi
gation by the Jackson Police De
partment with the cooperation of
the Butts County Sheriff’s De
partment.
CARD OF THANKS
The family of Mrs. Susie Quinn
would like to express their sin
cere appreciation for the many
acts of kindness shown to them
during the loss of their loved one.
The many prayers, cards, and
visits will be gratefully remem
bered. May God bless you gra
ciously is our prayer.—Mr. Earl
Quinn, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Hoard, Miss Lynn Hoard.
