aspiration and
INSPIRATION
These two elements are both
essential to a true and victorious
life. While they each have a dif
ferent source, yet they generally
act together in the Christian life.
Aspiration is an inside factor;
inspiration is an outside factor.
David realized this when he said,
“As the hart panteth after the
water brooks, so panteth my soul
after thee, O God” (Psalm 42:1)
As water was the inspiration to
dry the thirsty hart, so is God
to the longing soul.
Inspiration must have some al
luring blessing to satisfy the
heart, and aspiration must have
some lack or need to be met.
What wonderful food for inspira
tion there is in the promises of
the Word, the provisions of the
atonement and the glory of the
Christ, and what deep need and
possibilities the soul possesses to
keep it always on the stretch for
new revelations from God.
May we be constantly having
these new views of soul possibili
ties in God, so that our whole
being will be constantly leaving
the things that are behind.

Nazarenes Give
$7 Million To
World Missions
Members of the Church of the
Nazarene gave over $7,000,000 to
the denomination's world mission
program in 1969.
I)r. John L. Stockton, general
treasurer, estimated that the
1969 giving total would reach $7,-
300,000. This would be an in
crease of 6'z per cent over the
$6,854,000 spent on Nazarene
world missions in ’6B.
The Nazarene world mission
program takes in work by over
600 missionaries, teachers, doc
tors, nurses and builders and
world-wide broadcasting sched
ules.
Early in 1970, Nazarenes will
open work in Honduras which
will be the 49th world area with
work sponsored by the denomina
tion. A church also has been
started in Guam, in the Mariana
Islands of the Pacific.
Other gains during the year
were the construction of English
speaking churches in Tokyo and
at Yoshihara, Okinawa.
A total of 41 Nazarene college
students gave their summer vaca
tions in 1969 to work at mission
stations in South and Central
America. This plan will be re
peated in 1970.
More than 200 pastors attend
ed the first Nazarene Central
American preachers’ conference
at Guatamala City, Guatamala
December 1-5. The new Nazarene
Central American Bible College is
scheduled to open in March, 1970,
on a campus near San Jose, Costa
Rica.
The Nazarene world mission
program has 85,879 church mem
bers and an enrollment of 167,-
500 in Sunday schools. The de
nomination has a world member
ship of over 465,000 persons.

Is there life on other planets in other galaxies out there?
This is a question we ask with increasing frequency these days.
When God made our world, was it the only one He fashioned?
We may never know. The answer may lie far in the future.
But it is an enticing subject to speculate about.
Many fascinating subjects are being discussed today in
church. If this surprises you, it only goes to show that you
haven’t been attending church lately. To keep in touch with
this challenging world, start going not only to regular services
but to some of the special discussions in your church.
