BY STEVEN BALL
On Friday night, January 17th,
the Henderson Tigers took on
Booker High of Barnesville. The
girls won their sixth straight
game with the boys suffering
their ninth loss of the season.
In the girls game, the Tiger
ettes bombed Booker by a score
of 37-26. Great defensive work
by guards Daisy Grier, Jean
Hightower, Rosa Head, Gladys
Freeman and Linda Mann kept
Booker from hitting too many
points. Also, forwards Aretha
Pye, Regenia Lawrence, and Pa
tricia Barlow were outstanding
on offense. Aretha had 19 points,
Regenia 12 and Patricia 6.
The girls scoring were Barlow
6, Pye 19, Lawrence 12 with final
points for Henderson at 37. Scor
ing for Booker with 26 were Cal
loway 13, Wynche 4, Barrett 7
and Barber 2.
In the boys game the Tigers
were handed their ninth defeat
of the season. They played a good
game but the Booker team was
better. In the first half Booker
shot a sizzling 71% from the
field as compared to a 43%
shooting for the Tigers.
As in most games this season,
the Tigers were rough on the
boards due to the jumping ability
of Bobby Lawrence, J. W. Jef
ferson, John Sims and John
Webb. As of now the boys have a
seasonal record of 7-9 which they
hope to improve when they jour
ney to Butler on Wednesday
night.
Scoring for the Henderson
boys with 89 were Norris 11,
Woodard 14, Webb 2, Lawson 13,
Jefferson 8, McDowell 2, Law
rence 6 and Sims 11. Scoring for
Barnesville were Pye 20, Fambro
11, Banks 12, Vaughn 17, Wheel
er 6, Eleby 10 for a total of 76.
The halftime score stood at 42-
28.

Loganville
By Patrice Marchman
Sports Editor, Devils Diary
Jackson Devilettes defeated the
Loganville Red Devils by a score
of 53-35.
Denise Davis made her highest
scoring record by scoring 35
points, Carol Lawrence scored 13,
Inice Dennard 4 and Andrea Hol
ston 1. The guards were able to
keep Loganville down to 35
points. Guarding was led by
Doris Green, Andrea Holston and
Patrice Marchman. Substitutes
were Ellen Pinckney and Sherry
Barnes, guards.
Hopefully Jackson will con
tinue to win and each win gives
the girls more confidence that
they can win if they play the
brand of basketball they are cap
able of playing.
The Jackson Red Devils downed
the Loganville Red Devils by the
blazing score of 93-57.
All the Red Devils were able
to play in this game. Nat Thur
man was top scorer with 21
points, Alton Jester and Jimmy

followed with Bill Nelson and Don
Cook with 10 points. Randy Moss
netted 7, with Fred Head and

Providing low-cost, dependable electric power for
people across the nation's countryside —that's the job
of America's nearly 1,000 Member-owned electric
systems.
Nowadays, the people of America's rural electrics
are leading in the development of their service areas.
In less than a decade they have helped bring to the
countryside over 3,500 new businesses and industries,
with more than a quarter-million new jobs.
We add to community revenue through payment of
sales, property, exise, vehicle, and other taxes. And
we still provide a small but significant element of
"competition by example" which helps keep down the
rates of all electric consumers.
We exist because of and for the Members we serve.
We're a "people program" and we're planning for the
needs of anew day . . . working for progress . . .
dedicated to service.
