Henderson
Defeats
Woodbury
BY STEVEN BALL
On Wednesday night, January
15th, the Henderson Tigers
journeyed to Woodbury to take
on the Woodbury High Trojans
with the Tigers victorious in both
games.
The Tigerettes breezed to their
fifth consecutive win downing
Woodbury 46-36. Woodbury held
the lead only until the Tigerettes
touched the ball. From then on it
was all Tigerettes.
Aretha Pye led the Tigerettes
attack by scoring 18 points. Are
tha was closely followed by Re
genia Lawrence with 17 points
and Patricia Barlow with 12
points.
The Tigerettes now have a sea
sonal record of 10 wins, 4 losses.

Pye with 18, Lawrence 16, Bar
low 12 for a total of 46. Scoring
for Woodbury were Thompson

at 18-14 for Henderson.
In the boys game the Tigers
had to hold down a late Wood
bury rally and leave with a 57-56
thriller.
In the first half the Tigers
were not hitting very well but
some great Tiger defense and
steady rebounding kept the score
close. At halftime the score was
knotted at 22-22, but in the sec
ond half it was all Tigers until
the clock showed about 2:55 left
in the game. With the Tigers
leading by 11 points, the Tiger
defense let up. All of a sudden,
with 10 seconds remaining in the
game, the Tigers were behind
by one point, but a pair of clutch
free throws by Nathaniel Law
son won the game. The top re
bounders were John Webb with
11, J. W. Jefferson 10, John
Sims 9 and Bobby Lawrence with
8. The boys now have a record
of 7 wins and 8 losses.

were Norris 3, Woodward 14,
