IS BRIDE OF
SEABORN W. MADDOX 111
Mary Ellen Phillips became the
bride of Seaborn W. Maddox 111
on January 18th in a double ring
ceremony performed by the Rev.
Ray Dunahoo at the Jackson
United Methodist Church. The
bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Lamar W. Phillips of Jackson,
was given in marriage by her
father.
The groom is the son of Mr.
S. W. Maddox, Jr. of Jackson,
Georgia and Mrs. Betty M. Mad
dox of Jackson, Mississippi. Mr.
Maddox was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Donnie Phillips,
brother of the bride, and Charles
Fountain, both of Jackson. Junior
groomsmen were Mark Maddox,
brother of the groom, and Terry
Moore, cousin of the groom, both
of Jackson.
Ushers were Wayne Phillips,
brother of the bride; Johnny
Carter, cousin of the bride, both
of Jackson; Bruce Fisher, cousin
of the groom, of Perry. They
were attired in tuxedos.
Miss Jeannette Price of Atlan
ta sang “A Time For Us” and
‘‘The Lord’s Prayer.” She was ac
companied by Mrs. Ed Deaver of
Jackson.
Miss Debbie Hodges of Jackson
was maid of honor. Bridesmaids
were Mrs. Barbara Phillips, sis
ter-in-law of the bride, and Miss
Susan Maddox, sister of the
groom. Junior bridesmaids were
Miss Donolyn Brown of Fort Wal
ton Beach, Florida and Miss
Kathy Phillips of Decatur, both
cousins of the bride. Miss Tarni
Hardy of Morristown, Tennessee,
cousin of the groom, was flower
girl. They all wore floor length
gowns of aqua crepe featured
with empire waistlines and long
puff sleeves. Their head pieces
were aqua illusion attached to a
band of aqua daisies. They car
ried silver baskets of daisies.

day, March 15th, from 4 to 6
p. m. in the Henderson Cafeto
rium of the Henderson High and
Elementary School.
Mrs. Margaret L. Belcher, na
tional president of The National
Association of Negro Business
and Professional Women’s Clubs,
Inc., will be the guest speaker.
She will have many interesting
things to tell the group, having
recently returned from Thailand.

Venice lace trimmed the neckline,
bodice front, ruffled collar and
empire waistline. A full length
detachable train fell from the
waistline. The veil of four tiers
of bouffant bridal illusion was
held by the circular hat with a
bandeau across the front. It was
trimmed with lace appliques high
lighted with crystals and pearls.
She carried a bouquet of white
roses and stephanotis on a white
Bible, given to her by her mother.
Mrs. Phillips chose for her
daughter’s wedding a dress and
jacket suit of beige silk brocaded
in gold and beige accessories.
Her corsage was a gold cymbid
ium orchid.
The reception was given in the
social hall of the church. Miss
Candee Carmichael of Jackson
kept the Bride’s Book. Serving
were Miss Connie O’Hearn of
Atlanta, Miss Claudia Potts, Miss
Marsha Welch, and Mrs. Mary
Zane Swearingen, all of Jackson.
Following a wedding trip to
Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Mr. and
Mrs. Maddox are making their
home on the Brownlee Road,
Jackson.

at Jasper Memorial Hospital, her
friends will regret to learn.
The friends of Mrs. J. F. Mc-
Coy will regret to learn that she
suffered a fractured shoulder in
a fall at the home of her son,
Melvin, at Byron last week. Mem
bers of the family reported the
first of the week that she was
doing nicely.
