Betrothal of Linda Gayle
Hetzel, David Lee Mask
Is Told This Week
Mrs. John Henry Hetzel of
Carrollton, Georgia announces
the engagement of her daughter,
Linda Gayle, to David Lee Mask,
son of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Mask
of Jackson, Georgia.
Miss Hetzel, daughter of the
late Mr. John H. Hetzel, is the
granddaughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. J. M. Kaylor of Car
rollton, Georgia and the late Mr.
and Mrs. W. F. Hetzel, Sr. of At
lanta, Georgia.
The bride-elect graduated from
Carrollton High School in 1968
and is presently attending West
Georgia College.
Mr. Mask is the grandson of
the late Mr. and Mrs. William
Eeall of Palmetto, Georgia and
the late T. B. Mask of Jonesboro
and the late Mrs. Inez Thaxton
of Jackson.
The future groom graduated
from Jackson High School in
1965. He received his A. B. de

Tuesday, March 3rd, in a quiet
ceremony at the office of Mr.
George Imes, Ordinary of Spald
ing County.
Mr. and Mrs. Hamlin are mak
ing their home at 806 Sunshine
Drive, Apartment 4, Griffin.

of Johnston, Pennsylvania an
nounce the engagement -of their
daughter, Katherine Mohr, to
George Lawrence Morgan, Jr.,
son of Mr. and Mrs. George Law
rence Morgan, Sr. of Jackson,
Georgia.
Both Miss Mohr and Mr. Mor
gan are presently attending West
Georgia College. Miss Mohr, who
is a sophomore, is majoring in
Drama and Speech. Mr. Morgan,
a senior, is majoring in Business
Administration.
The wedding date will be an

HOSTESS TO MEETING
JENKINSBURG GARDEN CLUB
Mrs. T. R. Sims was hostess to
the March meeting of the Jenk
insburg Garden Club last Thurs
day night.
Fifteen members answered roll
call with Mrs. F. D. Terrell be
ing welcomed as anew member.
Mrs. Joyce Harris, president, pre
sided over the business session.
New by-laws for the club, which
had been drawn up by a commit
tee consisting of Mrs. M. B. Far
rar, Mrs. Julia Fletcher and Miss
Ruby Lane, were voted on and
adopted.
Lovely topiary balls of beauti
ful flowers, fruits and velvet rib
bon were presented to the out
going president, Mrs. T. R. Sims,
and to Mrs. J. O. Minter, treas
urer of the club for eighteen
years. They were presented by
the first president of the club,
Mrs. M. B. Farrar. The club was
organized in 1937.
The program was presented by
Mrs. M. B. Farrar, who divided
the members into groups asking
them to plan programs they
would enjoy having during the
year, the year’s theme being
Planning, Planting and Present
ing.
At the conclusion of the pro
gram the hostess served delicious
refreshments consisting of lime
sherbet punch, decorated cakes
and assorted nuts.
DAR TO MEET AT
CLUBHOUSE SATURDAY
The Daughters of the American
Revolution will meet Saturday,
March 21, at 3 p. m. at the Jack
son Clubhouse. Miss Lois McMich
ael will have charge of the pro
gram, with reports also from the
State Conference held in Atlanta
last week.
Hostesses will be Mrs. James
Buchanan, Mrs. G. H. Bankston,
Mrs. D. V. Spencer, and Mrs.
Beth Hearn.

CHEROKEE MEMBERS WITH
DISCOURSE ON CRAFTS
The Cherokee Garden Club held
its March meeting at the home
of Mrs. J. W. O’Neal with Mrs.
Otis Ball and Mrs. Rogers Starr
as co-hostesses.
Mrs. Richard Watkins Jr. in
troduced Mrs. O. E. Anderson of
Griffin who presented the pro
gram. Mrs. Anderson is in charge
of the Craft Program at South
ern States in Griffin. If there is
anything that is interesting to
women, it is women’s pocket
books. Mrs. Anderson charmed
the members with an array of
pocketbooks made from wooden
boxes of various sizes and shapes.
These bags were made in her
craft program and showed mpch
creativeness in their making. The
designs were composed of bead
ing, unique painting, decals, and
decoupage, Mrs. Anderson invited
any who wished to join her craft
classes.
Perfect attendance awards were
presented members who attended
every meeting of the year. Mrs.
Ben Garland, Mrs. Bob Arm
strong, Mrs. David Black, and
Mrs. Charles Carter, recipients of
this award, were given bulbs to
plant in their gardens. The mem
ber earning the most points on
flower arrangements and speci
mens brought to the meetings
during the year was Mrs. Jack
Moore, who was presented an as
sortment of materials to fix flow
er arrangements and bulbs.
A delicious dessert course was
served by the hostesses.

Jr.‘ are delighted to learn that
her brother, Raymond Griffeth
of Athens, is much improved at
St. Mdry’s Hospital, Athens,
where he was admitted over the
weekend in critical condition
from a kidney infection.

and family of Bremen visited
Mrs. J. W. Raney Sr. and other
relatives over the weekend.

Atlanta visited Sunday with Mrs.

Macon spent Sunday with their

Mrs. Aldean Waldrop was ad
mitted to Macon Hospital last
week for surgery. She returned
home Saturday and is now able to
be up in her room for a while.
Mrs. Minerva Perkinson and
Mrs. Margaret Grier spent the
weekend in North Carolina.
Mrs. Jim Wise of Gainesville,
Florida is expected sometime soon
to visit Misses Eleanor Moncrief
and Blannie Stallworth.
Miss Falma Gregory spent most
of last week with her cousin, Mrs.
Mollie Padgett, in Flovilla.
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Holloway
and Mr. Edward Cornell Sr. at
tended the funeral of Mr. Whit
Newton Sunday afternoon.
We are glad to report that
Miss Suzi Fletcher was not badly
hurt in a car wreck Saturday
afternoon and was able to attend
Sunday School here Sunday morn
ing.
News from Mrs. Florrie Giles
is that she will be home by
Easter. She is with her daughter,
Mrs. Graham Norman, and family
in Savannah. Mrs. Norman is the
former Miss Mary Giles.

and 22nd. According to Rev. Wi
ley Cameron, pastor, several stu
dents now enrolled at Tennessee
Temple Schools in Chattanooga
will take part.
Saturday afternoon Donnie
Thurston will speak on the Bible
Time Broadcast over WJGA* at
12:30. Saturday night at seven
o’clock Robert Driggers will
preach, Mike Haege will be the
final speaker of the evening.
The two preachers for the Sun
day services will be Denny Kent
and Harold Pennington, both
from Texas. There will be special
singing in each service by groups
of young people from the college.
