MISPLACED GOD
Today, as in times before, life
has become very complicated. It
is almost impossible to do any
thing for yourself. Automobiles
have become so complicated that
a pair of pliers is useless. No
longer do we have a shade tree
existence. Today is the time of
specialization. We have almost
made the machine our god. We
not only have de-personalized
ourselves, but we have forged out
our god in the form of steel, plas
tic and know how.
We today put more faith in our
self-made gods than ever before.
Man has even explored parts of
the moon because of his faith in
himself and his man-made ob
jects. This type attitude is great.
There is nothing wrong with such
achievement. The problem, how
ever, is the danger of man feel
ing he is all-sufficient and that
now he no longer needs or even
recognizes God. Except in death
or tragedy we do not need God
it seems. But, nevertheless we
need to recognize God as God.
We need to re-evaluate our con
cept of machines by asking the
question: Are we serving the ma
chines or are they serving us? In
other words have they become
our gods. It they have, then we
have lost a friend who really
cares for us. He loves us enough
to allow us to be free to love
Him or not love Him.
Therefore, as thinking and
evaluating human beings, this is
a time to thoroughly look at our
COME foe WITH US...
