Nuptials December 9th To Unite
Rosemary Cook, Gary Gibson
Mr. and Mrs. Willie Avery
Cook of Jackson announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Rosemary, to Gary Douglas
Gibson, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Norman Douglas Gibson of
Jackson Lake.
The bride-elect is the
granddaughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. G. W. Rawls and the
late Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Cook of
Butts County.
Miss Cook is a graduate of
Jackson High School and
continued her education to
receive her LPN nursing
degree. She is presently
employed at Hilltop Nursing
Home in Forsyth.
Mr. Gibson is the grandson of

Mike Howell of Charleston,
West Virginia arrived during
the weekend and is spending
this week in Jackson with Dr.
and Mrs. J. C. Howell and
family, and his grandmother,
Mrs. O. B. Howell.
Friends of Mr. and Mrs. R. L.
Glaze sympathize with them in
the death November 15th of
Mr. Glaze’s sister, Mrs.
Maggie Glaze Brewer, 84, of
Kannapolis, N. C. She died in a
Morganton, N. C. hospital.
Burial was in Carolina Me
morial Park in Kannapolis.
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Glaze and
Mrs. Olin L. Glaze left Friday
morning, November 16th, for
Kannapolis and returned home
Sunday afternoon.
Miss Anita Marshall of
Reynolds and Miss Sallie Clark
of Atlanta spent Thursday and
Friday with Miss Ethel Smith
and sisters. On Friday they
spent the day at Braselton with
Miss Lita Braselton and family
and also visited the Russell
Memorial at Winder.

McGahee, Michael and Charlie
McGahee, of Aiken, S. C., Mr.
and Mrs. Jimmy Patrick of
Columbus, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Piro of Milledgeville, are
spending Thanksgiving with
Mr. and Mrs. J. Duvall
Patrick.
Mrs. S. A. Roberts of Tifton,
Mrs. W. C. Roberts and Mrs.
Howard Whitley of Ocilla were
recent visitors of Mrs. 0. A.
Andrews and family.
Dr. and Mrs. Tom O’Dell,
Esther and David will spend
Thanksgiving with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Hope Loftin, in
New nan.
Mrs. Mildred Ballenger
spent several days recently
with Mr. and Mrs. James L.
Traylor at Smyrna. She also
visited Mrs. A. O. Linch and
Dr. and Mrs. Dan Jordan and
family of Atlanta.
Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Gibson of
Jackson Lake and Mr. and
Mrs. W. G. McNatt of
Greenville, Texas.
Mr. Gibson, also a graduate
of Jackson High School, is now
attending the University of
Georgia. He is a senior,
majoring in Business Manage
ment.
The wedding will be Decem
ber ninth at three o’clock in the
afternoon at the Second Baptist
Church of Jackson. No formal
invitations are being sent but
freiends and relatives are
invited to attend and remain
for the reception following in
the Fellowship Hall of the
church.
Mr. and Mrs. David Wood
ward and Margo, of Jackson
ville, Florida, spent the past
weekend with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Bailey Woodward.

ACQUAINTED TEA
Mrs. James E. Waters was
tendered a get-acquainted tea
Saturday afternoon, November
10, at the attractive home of
Mrs. Dan Fears on Watkins
Street, Mrs. Fears serving as
hostess for the occasion. Mrs.
Waters, a niece of Mrs. Fears,
recently moved with her
husband to Jackson from
Savannah and is employed in
the Butts County School
System.
Forming a receiving line to
greet the guests who called
between the hours of three and
five o’clock were the hostess,
the honoree and her mother,
Mrs. M. W. Williams of
Savannah. After signing the
register, guests were invited to
the tea table.
A color scheme of yellow and
green was used in.the dining
area with the central attraction
being a mass arrangement of
mixed flowers amid four
branch silver candelabra.
Russian Tea and coffee were
poured from the silver service
with mints, petit-fours, cheese
straws and nuts being served.
Arrangements of fall flowers
and greenery were used
throughout the home.
Other out-of-town guests
were Mrs. Randall Robison,
sister of the honoree, and Mrs.
Herbert Waters, sister of Mrs.
Fears, both of Savannah.
Mrs. Waters is a reading
specialist in the local school
system and co-teachers, close
neighbors and friends were
invited to the tea.

Messrs. Ronnie Wells of
Jackson and James Cargile of
McDonough were among those
who went over to Athens
Saturday for the Georgia-Au
burn game.
Dr. and Mrs. J. C. Howell
went over to Athens Saturday
for the Georgia-Auburn game
and visited in the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Sinkwich. Mrs.
Sinkwichand Mrs. Gail Walker
accompanied them to the game
in the afternoon.

HAWTHORN GARDEN CLUB
PLANS YULE PARTY
ON DECEMBER 11TH
The Hawthorn Garden Club
met with Mrs. Clyde Hodges
Tuesday, November 13, for the
regular program and business
meeting.
The club will participate with
the other clubs in the
Christmas Lighting Program.
Plans were made for the
Christmas party to be held at
Tomlin’s, Tuesday, December
11, at 6:00 p.m.
Winners in the judging of
arrangements were:

were honor guests at dinner
Friday, November 16th, at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. J. R.
Carmichael prior to their
departure for Costa Rica.
Mr. Riviere is teacher of the
United Sunday School Class,
North Avenue Presbyterian
Church, Atlanta, and is an
executive officer of Young
Life. He will spend six months
in Costa Rica in organizational
plans for Young Life.
Other guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Carmichael for this occasion in
their recently restored home in
Jackson included Mrs. Mary

IN BARNESVILLE
On November 17th, the
Upsilon Chapter of Delta
Kappa Gamma Society met at
the Crescent House in Barnes -
ville with the president, Miss
Susie Blanton, presiding.
Miss Elizabeth Pilkenton
brought a devotional on
Thankfulness.
After the business meeting,
Miss Geraldine Purdy intro
duced the speaker, Mrs. Dot
Trayler. She talked on the work
of The League of Women
Voters, telling the group that it
is a non partisan organization,
giving factual information on
registration, election details,
candidates and issues.
A delicious lunch was served
to the 35 members present.
