Independent
College Drive
ATLANTA The Rev.
Donald Folsom, pastor of the
Jackson First Baptist
Church, has been named to
head up a fund drive for the
Georgia Foundation of Inde
pendent Colleges in the Butts
County area, beginning the
first week of November.
“We are pleased to have a
man of Rev. Folsom’s vision
and knowledge working in
this effort to support Geor
gia’s independent colleges,”
said Joseph Treadway, exe
cutive director of the
Foundation, in making the
announcement.
The Foundation is a
federation of these colleges
and universities: Agnes
Scott, Berry, Brenau, Mer
cer, LaGrange, Oglethorpe,
Piedmont, Shorter, Tift and
Wesleyan.
“These colleges must look
to the private sector for
support,” Rev. Folsom said,
“in order to keep pace with
tax-supported institutions
and in keeping their doors
open to young Georgians who
prefer religious-oriented
campuses.”
The fund drive for the
Foundation is a continuing
effort through the state and
special drives are conducted
during the year in various
areas.
