Macedonia Holds
Stewardship Dinner
The Macedonia Baptist
Church held its annual
Stewardship Dinner Wed
nesday night, November sth.
It was a festive and happy
occasion with 173 members
and friends in attendance.
The First Baptist Church
was host for the dinner being
held in their new and
spacious fellowship hall.
Several ladies from the First
Baptist Church headed by
Mrs. James Moore served
the meal. Also members of
the First Baptist Church
provided a childrens party
for children eight and under
headed by Mrs. Pat Hamlin.
The program consisted of,
special music by Charles
Kinney and Mrs. Mary Ann
Jones, Rev. and Mrs. Bill
Whitlatch and the adult choir
of Macedonia. An inspira
tional message was brought

honoree at a get-together
Sunday at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Maurice
Biles, and Mr. Biles. The
occasion was in honor of Mrs.
Thomas’ birthday.

CLUB MET AT
EMC BUILDING
The Cherokee Garden Club
met November 6th at the
Central Georgia EMC build
ing. Hostesses for the
meeting were Mrs. Ben
Garland, Mrs. R. F. Arm
strong, and Mrs. Robert
Williams.
Miss Doris Singley was
introduced as the speaker for
the evening. Miss Singley
showed pictures that she had
taken while touring The Holy
Land. She also presented
slides of The Holy Land.
These were narrated by a
casette tape.
Mrs. Millard Daniel, presi
dent, congratulated the club
on winning both of the
sweepstake ribbons at the
flower show at the Butts
County Fair.
Delicious pumpkin pie and
coffee were served by the
hostesses.

ed beautifully following the
Bicentennial theme with red,
white and blue. This was
done by the Macedonia
women led by Mrs. Doris
Standard and Mrs. Elizabeth
Cawthon.
Other Committees serving
were budget chairman, Mrs.
Juanita Biles; program by
Rev. R. W. Jenkins and Rev.
Bill Whitlatch; office, Mrs.
Mary Whitlatch and Mrs.
LaTrelle Mullis.
This was the beginning of
an effort by the Macedonia
church to pledge their $64,000
budget for 1976. First Sunday
pledges were turned in
November 9 with $50,307 of
the $64,000 budget pledged.
This will be followed by a
three week follow-up effort to
pledge the total budget.
HERBERT SHAPARDS
VISIT SON AT SEWANEE
SEWANEE, TENN. The
annual alumni homecoming
and parents’ weekend were
combined at Sewanee Acade
my this fall for a weekend
filled with camaraderie and
sunshine, and climaxed by a
decisive football victory over
archrival St. Andrew’s.
The parents group visited
dorm rooms and consulted
with their children’s teach
ers. Meanwhile, the alumni
held their annual meeting,
electing to the board of
governors Fred Goueh of
Copperhill, Tenn., John W.
Spence of Memphis, and
George Wood of Louisville,
Ky.
A picnic at the lake was
attended by students,
parents, alumni, and faculty.
The headmaster held a
reception. The Academy
choir performed at Sunday
morning chapel. And the
requisite Saturday night
dance took place, entertain
ing the young at heart till
after midnight.
The four-year boarding
prep school is coeducational
and is a unit of the
Episcopal-owned University
of the South.
Among those attending the
alumni homecoming were
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert

Flovilla Ordinances
AN ORDINANCE
REGULATING MOBILE HOMES WITHIN THE
CITY OF FLOVILLA, GEORGIA. BE IT ORDAINED
BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FLOVILLA, GEORGIA, AND IT IS HEREBY
ORDAINED BY AUTHORITY THEREOF:
Section (l) There will be no mobile homes moved
into the City of Flovilla, Georgia, after the date of this
ordinance, or moved from one location within said
City to another location within said City, except those
placed within a mobile home park approved by the
Council of said City.
Section (2) Anyone violating this ordinance shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor.
This the 12th day of September, 1974.
Be it noted that the City of Flovilla, Georgia has
requested the study of present land uses within said
city and the preparation, in consultation with the
Planning Commission of this city, of a comprehensive
zoning plan for this city by Mclntosh Trail Area
Planning and Development Commission, and that the
purpose of the ordinance of September 12, 1974, as
thus amended, is to serve as an interim control over
this subject matter pending the adoption of a
comprehensive zoning plan by this city.
This the 9th day of October, 1975.
ADMENDMENT TO THE CITY OF FLOVILLA,
GEORGIA, ORDINANCE DATED SEPTEMBER 12,
1974. DESIGNATED SECTION 1A TO BE
INSERTED BETWEEN SECTION 1 AND SECTION
2 OF SAID ORDINANCE.
Mobile Homes may be located within the City of
Flovilla, Georgia on areas other than a designated
Mobile Home Park, provided all of the following
requirements are met.
(a) All apparatus necessary for mobility are
permanently removed; to include wheels, axles,
tongue, lights, reflectors, etc.
(b) The completely assembled living unit be
installed on a permanent masonry foundation
enclosing its entire perimeter within sixty (60) days
of location of the Mobile Home on the property.
(c) All on-site construction must comply with the
current building, plumbing and electrical codes of the
City of Flovilla, Butts County, Georgia.
(and) Property owner must apply for a Mobile Home
Placement permit from the City Council at least ten
(10) days prior to its regularly scheduled monthly
meeting, said permit must be issued before the
Mobile Home can be located on the property.
(e) Only one (1) dwelling unit per building lot, with
a building lot to consist of a minimum of one half (Vfe)
acre, provided said building lot meets percolation
test adequate for proper sanitation facilities. A copy
Of said percolation test by the Butts County
Sanitarian must be submitted at the same time as the
request for a permit.
(f) No Mobile Home shall be located within thirty
(30) feet of any public street, or within ten (10) feet of
property rear or side lines, or within thirty (30) feet of
any other building the ten (10) foot property line
restriction not withstanding.
