Pet of The Week
CAROL, BARBARA, BOBBY AND MARY WITH LUCKY
By Jerry McLaurin
Lucky, a three-year-old
Welch pony (according to
Barbara) makes his home at
the residence of the Boan
family on Hillcrest Drive. He
spends most of his time in the
Boan backyard either tied to
a tree or in the pen.
By nature, a very gentle
pony, Lucky makes an
excellent playmate for the
Boan children; even Bobby,
three-years-old, enjoys
riding on Lucky without fear.
Lucky spends most of his
weekdays poking around
inside of his pen or lounging
in the backyard but when the

he gets a real workout. They
have trained him to jump and

Besides blackeyed peas,
butter beans and carrots,
Lucky doesn’t like dogs. For
some reason, Lucky seems to
attract them. There is little
doubt that he is convinced
that the world would be
better off without so many
dogs in it.
The care and affection that
Lucky receives from the
Boan children, Carol, Bar
bara, Bobby and Mary is
enough to satisfy any pet
and it’s plenty to overcome
his anxiety and displeasure
brought on by excited and
rambunctious dogs as well as
carrots, blackeyed peas and
butter beans.
