Hospital for surgery on
Tuesday. Friends are asked
to remember Mr. Avery and
the family in their prayers.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Avery,
Will and Wendy, are visiting
their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
W. G. Avery. They came
from Coral Springs, Florida
to be with their mother while
Mr. Avery is in the hospital.
Mrs. Nellie Cochran and
Mrs. Minnie Lee Hodges
visited Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Collins of Atlanta on Satur
day.

Fountain reported that a
$50.00 Savings Bond will be
given the member signing up
the most members by March
1, 1976 and a $25.00 Bond for
the runner-up. An achieve
ment award will be present
ed to that post exceeding its
quota by the widest margin.

Kiwanis Hears
Savings Bonds
Story Told
At their December 2
meeting, members of the
Jackson Kiwanis Club heard
a presentation on United
States Savings Bonds and the
role they play in financing
operation of the federal
government.
Glenn Meredith as pro
gram chairman presented
Vincent Jones, Deputy Direc
tor of the Savings Bonds
Program in Georgia.
Jones traced the history of
the Savings Bonds program,
reported 1975 sales running
at seven billion with 1976 goal
set at 7.6 billion, and had high
praise for banks, industry
and volunteer chairmen who
supplement the efforts of the
Savings Bonds Division staff
of less than 500.

can family holding over
SI,OOO in Savings Bonds, and
with over 67 billions in Bonds
outstanding, the program
has become one of the great

the Peace post in the run-off election of December

THREE ARRESTED IN
BUTTS TRAFFIC
ACCIDENTS
Sergeant Hugh Taylor of
the Griffin State Patrol Post
announced today that his
post has investigated 3 traffic
accidents, made 339 arrests
and issued warnings in Butts
County during November.
Commenting further Sgt.
Taylor said two persons were
injured in the three acci
dents.
Estimated property dam
age amounted to $2,570.00.

MAKES DEAN LIST
SEWANEE, TENN. The
honor rolls for the second
grading period have been
released at the Sewanee
Academy, with 35 students
attaining the Headmaster’s
List and 77 on Dean’s List,
the second honor roll. About
200 students attend the
four-year preparatory
school, which is a unit of the
Episcopal-owned University
of the South. These honor roll
students come from 15 states,
and the Headmaster’s List
includes Americans from
Germany, Gaum, and Iran.
Included on the list from
Jackson is Herbert Shapard,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert
F. Shapard, Sr. of 615 Joy
Street.
