returned from a ten day visit
with his brother Mr. Janies
Childs and sister Mrs. Agnes
Markson of Irwinville, Ga.
Mrs. M. B. Farrar spent
the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. J. W. Childs of
McDonough.
The Baptist Women’s
group of Jenkinsburg WMU
met with Mrs. T. H. Price
Monday afternoon, as part of
the Lottie Moon week of
prayer program was observ
ed.
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Caston,
Mrs. Jim Brewer, Mike and
Chris of Jackson have
returned from a four day trip
to Orlando and Disney Work!.
Deepest sympathy is ex
tended the family of Mrs.
Harry Ridgeway in the death
of her sister, Mrs. Ralph
Brown, of Forest Park,
which occurred last Wednes
day.
Friends and neighbors will
be glad to learn that Mrs.
Mary Lou Rosser who has
resided in Atlanta for several
years has returned to make
her home in Jenkinsburg.
Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Haley
and Elizabeth have returned
from a four day visit with Mr.
and Mrs. Wesley Haley of
Altamonte Springs, Fla.
While there they attended a

was elected as vice president
of the group.
Jenkinsburg friends of our
beloved editor, Mr. Doyle
Jones, are grieved to learn of
his critical illness at Emory
Hospital and our sincere
prayers are for a complete
and rapid recovery.

To Serve In
Mock Senate
Six men from Region 18 of
the Georgia Jaycees have
been elected to serve in the
first Jaycee Mock Legisla
ture to be held in Atlanta
December 12, 13 and 14.
Elected to serve in the Mock
Senate are Wayne Phillips of
Jackson and John Fetner of
Forsyth. Holding the position
of Mock Representatives are
Wayne Callihan of Macon,
Jimmy Warren of Dudley,
Wayne Reaves of Macon, and
Ken Clark of Milledgeville.
The Mock Legislature was
conceived by Morrow Jaycee
Don Clay. The Jaycees will
use this program to make
known to the Georgia
General Assembly, the issues
that they feel are most
important to the state, and to
tell their representatives how
they feel about these issues.
Five pieces of legislation
will be selected by the Mock
Legislature for support of the
statewide Jaycee organiza
tion. Bills have been submit
ted from Jaycees throughout
the state and cover such
topics as use of a firearm in
the commission of a crime, a
call for a constitutional
convention, stricter penalties
for rape, pari-mutuel wager
ing and restoration of
1 teacher pay raises voided by
the special session of the
General Assembly last sum
mer.
During the weekend of the
Mock Legislature, Governor
George Busbee will address a
joint session of the body.

service at Jenkinsburg Bap
tist Church in the afternoon,
Mrs. Shepherd entertained at
a lovely reception at the
pastorium for all the guests
who attended. A covered dish
luncheon was served at the
club house at the noon hour.
Mrs. Lucy Allen of Griffin
was Sunday guest of Mr. and
Mrs. T. R. Sims.

seats, those being Emerson
Burford, Lanier Burford,
Mrs. W. M. Franks, H. G.
Harris and James Whitaker.
Winning the two seats were
C. W. Haley and James
Whitaker with a large
majority of votes. Seventy
three voters cast their ballots
in the election. The mayor
and councilmen were elected
for two year terms of office.
