Butts Lions To
Sell Tickets
To Peach Bowl
The Butts County Lions
Club, in conjuntion with other
Lions’ clubs throughout the
state, is selling tickets to the
Peach Bowl game in Atlanta
Stadium on Wednesday,
December 31, at 2:30 p.m.
North Carolina State and
West Virginia will be the
competing teams.
The local Lions Club has
100 tickets for sale, all
together in the same section.
Tickets are $7.50 each and
anyone interested in pur
chasing them should contact
Dr. William Mitchell, Walter
Carmichael, Charlie Brown
or Dick O’Hara.
The Peach Bowl is a
football game put together
for the blind and the
weak-eyed by a bunch of
20-20 Lions Club members.
The Georgia Lions Light
house Foundation, Inc., spon
sor of the Peach Bowl, has
sight conservation and eye
research as its main goals.
Since its 1949 inception, the
Lighthouse goal has been to
prevent blindness, now
through medication, correc
tive glasses or operations,
and eventually through pro
viding an eye research
center second to none in the
world.
X In 1968 the collegiate
association concurred that
the Lions Lighthouse Foun
dation was a worthy founda
tion and sanctioned the
Peach Bowl as the only
major bowl operated pri
marily for a charity organi
zation.
