SECURITY DEED

On July 22, 1974. Melvin H.
Wilkerson and Helen M.
Wilkerson executed and
delivered to William H.
Staton and Ann B. Staton a
note in the original amount of
Twelve Thousand Five Hun
dred Dollars ($12,500.00),
which note with interest
thereon was payable at the
rate of One Hundred Fifty-
ONE & 66-100 Dollars
($151.66) per month; time
was made the essence of the
contract. The interest rate on
said note being eight per
centum per annum. In order
to secure the payment of said
note, Melvin H. Wilkerson
and Helen M. Wilkerson
executed and delivered to
William H. Staton and Ann B.
Staton a Deed to Secure Debt
conveying the following
property, to wit:
All that tract or parcel of
land lying and being in the
616th District, GM of Butts
County, Georgia, identified
as Lot No. 38 of Cherokee
Lake Estates Subdivision on
Lake Jackson as per plat of
T. J. Collins, Registered
Surveyor, recorded in Plat
Book 1, page 66, Office of
Clerk, Butts County Superior
Court. Said lot fronting
Cherokee Drive 45 feet and
Lake Jackson 50 feet and
bounded on the North by Lot
37, East by Lake Jackson,
South by Lot 39 and West by
Cherokee Drive.
Said Deed being recorded in
Deed Book 54, page 658, Butts
County Records.
Because the said Melvin H.
Wilkerson and Helen M.
Wilkerson defaulted in
making payments of monthly
payments as they matured,
William H. Staton and Ann B.
Staton pursuant to the
provisions of said Note and
Deed aforesaid securing the
same has exercised its option
and declared the entire
balance due and collectible.
The said Deed contains the
Power of Sale, authorizing
Grantees, as Attorneys in
Fact for Grantors therein to
sell the property conveyed
thereby in order to satisfy
said note, after advertising
the same once a week for
four w'eeks in the official
gazette of said County, and in
accordance with said power
of sale by virtue thereof the
said William H. Staton and
Ann B. Staton will sell the
above property at public
outcry to the highest and best
bidder for cash, on the first
Tuesday in March 1976 at the
place of public sales before
the Courthouse door in Butts
County, Georgia, and within
the legal hours of sale.
The proceeds of the sale
will be used as follows: (1) to
pay the expenses of said
sale; (2) to pay the sums
secured by said deed; and (3)
the balance, if any, delivered
to the person or persons
legally authorized to receive
same.

Georgia; said security deed
having been given to secure a
note dated May 21, 1973, in
the original principal sum of
$36,340.00, there will be sold
by the undersigned at public
outcry, during the legal
hours of sale, before the door

the highest bidder for cash,

The debt secured by said
security deed and note has
been and is hereby declared
due and payable in full
because of nonpayment
thereof pursuant to the terms
of said security deed and
note. The debt remaining in
default, this sale will be
made for the purpose of
paying said indebtedness
including all interest and
attorney’s fees and all
expenses of said sale.
Said property will be sold
as the property of S. L.
Brown and Betty Brown and
Rosa M. Thaxton as their
respective interests may be
by reason of Warranty Deed,
recorded in Deed Book 57,
Page 235, aforesaid records
and subject to any and all
unpaid taxes, assessments,

Georgia a bill to amend an
Act creating anew charter
for the City of Jackson, ap
proved February 15, 1952
(Ga. Laws 1952, p. 2803), as
amended, so as to provide for
the approval of certain
purchases; to provide for
sealed bids and competitive
bidding on certain pur
chases; to change the
provisions relative to the
National FFA Week Being
Observed February 21-28
Members of the Jackson
High Chapter join with over
485,000 other FFA members
in the United States in
celebrating National FFA
WEEK which starts Feb
ruary 21.
Throughout the week the
states 216 chapters are
planning activities to support
the theme “A FUTURE FOR
AMERICA.”
National FFA WEEK al
ways includes George Wash
ington’s birthday in obser
vance of his leadership in
promoting scientific farming
practices. Washington was
considered the patron saint
of the FFA and has come to
symbolize the FFA
Treasurer.

Dental Health
Week Is
Proclaimed
Students of the Henderson
Junior High School VOCA
Club have been studying
dental health for the past
week. Of the many things
that have been learned, the
most shocking is that 95
percent of the population
have some type of dental
disease.
Mayor C. B. Brown has
signed a proclamation pro
claiming the weeks of
February 15th thru February
27th as Dental Health Weeks,
and the VOCA Club has been
successful in getting spots on
the local radio station to
focus additional attention on
this health need.
Dr. Bailey M. Crockarell,
local Jackson dentist, will
speak to the student body at
(he Henderson Junior High
School Gymnasium on Wed
nesday, February 25th. The
public is invited. We urge all
citizens to get dental check
ups regularly.
