NOTICE OF SALE
UNDER POWER
CONTAINED IN
SECURITY DEED
STATE OF GEORGIA
COUNTY OF BUTTS
On July 22, 1974, Melvin H.
Wilkerson and Helen M.
Wilkerson executed and
delivered to William H.
Staton and Ann B. Staton a
note in the original amount of
Twelve Thousand Five Hun
dred Dollars ($12,500.00),
which note with interest
thereon was payable at the
rate of One Hundred Fifty-
ONE & 66-100 Dollars
($151.66) per month; time
was made the essence of the
contract. The interest rate on
said note being eight per
centum per annum. In order
to secure the payment of said
note, Melvin H. Wilkerson
and Helen M. Wilkerson
executed and delivered to
William H. Staton and Ann B.
Staton a Deed to Secure Debt
conveying the following
property, to wit:
All that tract or parcel of
land lying and being in the
616th District, GM of Butts
County, Georgia, identified
as Lot No. 38 of Cherokee
Lake Estates Subdivision on
Lake Jackson as per plat of
T. J. Collins, Registered
Surveyor, recorded in Plat
Book 1, page 66, Office of
Clerk, Butts County Superior
Court. Said lot fronting
Cherokee Drive 45 feet and
Lake Jackson 50 feet and
bounded on the North by Lot
37, East by Lake Jackson,
South by Lot 39 and West by
Cherokee Drive.
Said Deed being recorded in
Deed Book 54, page 658, Butts
County Records.
Because the said Melvin H.
Wilkerson and Helen M.
Wilkerson defaulted in
making payments of monthly
payments as they matured,
William H. Staton and Ann B.
Staton pursuant to the
provisions of said Note and
Deed aforesaid securing the
same has exercised its option
and declared the entire
balance due and collectible.
The said Deed contains the
Power of Sale, authorizing
Grantees, as Attorneys in
Fact for Grantors therein to
sell the property conveyed
thereby in order to satisfy
said note, after advertising
the same once a week for
four weeks in the official
gazette of said County, and in
accordance with said power
of sale by virtue thereof the
said William H. Staton and
Ann B. Staton will sell the
above property at public
outcry to the highest and best
bidder for cash, on the first
Tuesday in March 1976 at the
place of public sales before
the Courthouse door in Butts
County, Georgia, and within
the legal hours of sale.
The proceeds of the sale
will be used as follows: (1) to
pay the expenses of said
sale; (2) to pay the sums
secured by said deed; and (3)
the balance, if any, delivered
to the person or persons
legally authorized to receive
same.

Under and by virtue of the
power of sale in a certain
security deed from S. L.
Brown and Betty Brown,
grantor, to Evans Products
Company, grantee, dated
May 21, 1973, recorded in
Deed Book 51, Page 498, Land
Records of Butts County,
Georgia; said security deed
having been given to secure a
note dated May 21, 1973, in
the original principal sum of
$36,340.00, there will be sold
by the undersigned at public
outcry, during the legal
hours of sale, before the door
of the Courthouse in Butts
County, Georgia, on the first
Tuesday in March, 1976, to
the highest bidder for cash,
the following described real
property:
ALL that tract or parcel of
land, situate, lying and being
in the 615th District G.M.,
Butts County, Georgia, in
Land Lot No. 112 of the Ist
Land District thereof, con
sisting of 1.01 acre, more or
less, and being particularly
described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point
located 1284 feet North of the
center of “Old Shiloh Road to
High Falls-Jenkinsburg
Road” where said Road
intersects “Shiloh Road”,
thence from said POINT OF
BEGINNING, which is
marked by an iron pin, S. 89
degrees 47 min. W. 347.4 feet
to a point marked by an iron
pin; thence N. 0 degrees 30
min. E. 128.4 feet to a point
marked by an iron pin;
thence S. 89 degrees 22 min.
E. 348.4 feet to a point
marked by an iron pin; which
point is located at the
southeast corner of property
of G. W. Roberts; thence S. 1
degree 4 min. W. 124.4 feet
along the west boundary line
of Shiloh Road to a point,
which is the POINT OF
BEGINNING.
Said described tract of land
being bounded as follows:
North by property of G. W.
Roberts; East by the western
boundary of Shiloh Road;
South by Bond property; and
West by other property
belonging to Grantors of this
said security deed.
Said tract of land may be
further identified by refe
rence to a plat of same
prepared by T. A. Carmi
chael, Butts County Surve
yor, dated April 14, 1973, and
recorded in Plat Book 4, page
55, in the office of the Clerk of
the Superior Court of Butts
County, Georgia, and by
reference thereto said plat is
made a part of this
instrument and of this
description.
The debt secured by said
security deed and note has
been and is hereby declared
due and payable in full
because of nonpayment
thereof pursuant to the terms
of said security deed and
note. The debt remaining in
default, this sale will be
made for the purpose of
paying said indebtedness
including all interest and
attorney’s fees and all
expenses of said sale.
Said property will be sold
as the property of S. L.
Brown and Betty Brown and
Rosa M. Thaxton as their
respective interests may be
by reason of Warranty Deed,
recorded in Deed Book 57,
Page 235, aforesaid records
and subject to any and all
unpaid taxes, assessments,
general subdivision restric
tions, and other restrictions,
and easements of record, if
any.

Sign up procedures have
been announced for Pee Wee
Baseball 6 and 7 year old
boys, Ty Cobb Baseball 8
through 10 year old boys,
Little League Baseball 9
through 12 year old boys,
Junior League Softball 9
through 12 year old girls,
Senior League Softball l3
through 17 year old girls and
Babe Ruth Baseball l3
through 15 year old boys.
August 1 will be used to
determine a players league
age.
If interested in playing in
one of these leagues this
year, a player must do the
following to be eligible.
1. Have a parent or
guardian sign him-her up at
the Van Deventer Center on
one of the following dates:
Saturday, March 13 9:00
a.m. until 5:00 p.m.; Mon
day, March 15 through
Friday, March 19 5:00 p.m.
until 8:00 p.m.; Saturday,
March 20 9:00 a.m. until
5:00 p.m. Sign-up forms will
not be given out to take
home.
2. Boys signing up for Little
League for the first time in
Butts County are required to
try out at James H. Wallace
Memorial Park which is
located on the Monticello
highway. Try outs will be
held on March 20, at 2:00
p .m. and on March 27, at 2:00
p.m. If it rains on one of those
days try outs will be held on
Monday, March 29, at 5:00
p.m.
3. The following fees have
been established by the
leagues: Pee Wee 55.00
per boy; Ty Cobb 57.50 for
the first boy in the family and
$5.00 for each additional boy
in the family; Little League
SIO.OO for the first boy in
the family and $5.00 for each
additional boy in the family;
Girls Softball 55.00 for the
first girl in each family and
$3.00 for each additional girl
in each family; and Babe
Ruth SIO.OO for the first
boy in each family and $5.00
for each additional boy in
each family.
Boys registering for Little
League are required to bring
a copy of their birth
certificate. No Little League
player will be registered
without a copy of his birth
certificate.
Insurance may be pur
chased for Pee Wee and
Softball players for $3.50
each on the day of sign up.
Little League and Babe Ruth
players are insured auto
matically; others may pur
chase insurance individually.

week to Georgia Baptist
Hospital, her many friends

Friends of Mr. and Mrs.
Rogers F. Starr will be

Starr’s cousin, Miss Sara
Comfort of Atlanta, who was
in Intensive Care Unit of
Crawford W. Long Hospital
for some time, was placed in
a private room at the hospital
Wednesday of last week. Mr.
and Mrs. Starr have been
visiting Miss Comfort for the
past several weeks on many
occasions and friends are
delighted to learn of im
provement in her condition.

Mrs. Linda Jones, who
underwent back surgery at
Piedmont Hospital over a
month ago, is recuperating at
her home, however she is still
confined to bed, her many
friends will be interested to
know.

recently returned from New
York where she attended the
wedding of Douglas Proffitt
and Renee Fetti. Mrs. Grace
Burgan returned home with

HOME-OWNERS
You are reminded to come in and apply for home
stead exemption laws which might affect you. Please
read this and if you do not understand contact me or
one of my assistants. Do this as soon a possible.
1 - If you are 65 years old or older and the income
of you and your spouse does not exceed $4000.00, you
will be entitled to $4000.00 exemption instead of the
regular exemption of $2000.00. DO NOT count Social
Security or private retirement, disability or pension sys
tem.
2 - If yoy. are 62 years of age and the gross income
of you and your spouse or any and all members of the
family residing within the homestead for the 1975 cal
endar year shall not exceed $6000.00, you DO count
Social Security, pensions, retirement, any and all in
come. If you qualify under this law you will be entitled
up to but not to exceed $10,000.00 of the assessed valu
ation of your homestead on your school tax only.
3- If you have built anew home in 1975 you must
come in and apply for the regular exemption which is
$2000.00 if you do not qualify for either of the above
or if you have a mobile home and own the ground it is
sitting on you will be entitled to homestead exemption.
Please come in as soon as possible and make ap
plication for whichever exemption you are qualified.
